True Bar, I look forward to Joe's response to that fact.

Sorry Heggy but I have to disagree with you here! JC is only stating a fact here because Manure are the one of, if not the biggest club in the world! I wouldn't say that's disgraceful!!

In response to the total of the thread, I believe that's the exact order of priorities and regardless of our current status, to say we will NEVER achieve this again is downright ludicrous! Who jnows what will happen to the clubs ahead of us in the future? their owners could get jack of their clubs and sell to someone crap and they could go backwards just like we have. So to continuously aim for middle ground is just lowering our standards. Never say never because we can all hope and predicting the future us very difficult!

Exactly. Remember a few years ago when Man City were in the old Division 2? Imagine if you'd told them that they'd be winning the Premiership title within 13 years time, they'd never have believed it.
the factor to it has been money city have al.ways been a massive club but money came there way and changed it there way similar to chelsea who were up and down the leagues loads of times

Exactly, ShagDog, and exactly, faz. We don't know what's gonna happen around the corner, so to deal in absolutes like "we're never gonna get back to the top" is a bit stupid, tbh.

Joecool is right to show some realism, but he goes past realism and into the area of self-pity. Look at Stanley, he's far from what you'd call a deluded fan, but he isn't getting carried away and saying we'll never get back to the top. Saying such a thing is just a defence mechanism from stick from other supporters.

I think we can clear this thing up in a nushell stanley, answer me this question, what would you say if John Henry turned around and said I will continue to be a cheapskate, cut costs and give the manager pittance in transfer kitties but I have a " FEELING " which I cant explain, that we will rise from tha ashes and be a top Club again, just going on your philosophy now, would you be happy to accept that then like you want us to accept your take on it.

whose bothered stanley, Everton are better than us on the pitch right now so how does all this bigger turnover, fanbase, appeal and potential help us now, has'nt done us much good over the last 20 years now has it.

They're currently better than us on the pitch, yeah. Bigger fanbase, turnover, appeal and potential = ££££. And let's not kid ourselves, that's what it's all about. 99% of growth for a football club these days hinges on money. Everton may have a good team at the moment, but they don't have the resources to build on it to take that next step. A good signing or two to the team and we could be right back up there with them. If the clubs are even neck and neck on the pitch, then which club has the upper hand overall? Liverpool will always be a bigger club than Everton, and will always have the higher potential and appeal.

If Henry said that I would not be happy. But I am not happy now with Henry or FSG. But we are making some progress slowly and I have faith in Rodgers thats the bit I can't explain. Joe I am really struggling why you bother the I support my local club does not wash with me there plenty of local things to do in Liverpool its a great city and why waste your money on a global brand increasingly distanced from ordinary people in the city?

I watch Liverpool because I enjoy it as a sport and part of that is the aspiration for success. You seem to have given up the ghost entirely and following from some obligation which is nuts what obligation to you have to a Boston Millionaire 3 years ago who you have never heard of?

yes agree with part of that and for the same reason City, Arsenal, United and Chelsea will always be bigger than us.
