Aresne Wenger said at a tense Arsenal AGM the priorities were

1 – The League Title
2 – The champions League
3 – Qualification for the champion’s league
4 – The FA Cup
5 – The League Cup

Whist as a fan I can concur with those who say it’s about winning trophies first and foremost however I find it hard to disagree with Aresne’s list you cannot ignore the commercial realities of modern football.

I know I will have Joe Cool on my back but I still see Liverpool as a top club albeit one in a difficult patch.

Commercially we have as much clout as any of them and if we were to improve and challenge for the top 4 again I feel our fortunes could change very rapidly.

For those reasons the 5 priorities above would be mine as a fan. In terms of Europa I would put that on a par with the FA Cup personally.

Would you agree?

no certainly not but sadly we n eed to real about things and were a way off it , no title since 1990 and CL a long long way from that ,because the game has changed even in the last 2 or 3 seasons so much its even harder to be a very very top team without massive funds or if you get funds you dont waste it like previous liverpool managers did .

you have to be realistic stanley and live in the real world mate, we wont ever win the League, we are highly, highly extremely unlikely to get back in the Champions League because Man City took the place we used to get years ago, so for that reason you have to do what you have remaining to you which is Europa League, F.A.Cup and then Capital One Cup then for me it's places 5 then 6 then 7 e.t.c. I think we should'nt be looking at Arsenal as they operate with different targets, aims and expectations than us, I would put us in the group of probably Spurs but most definately Newcastle, Everton, West Brom, Fulham, Stoke and Sunderland where winning one of the domestic cups would be seen as a very good achievement rather than finishing 5th, 6th or 7th.

I am not disagreeing with your analysis and that of Faz. But for me winning a cup or two and accepting 6th place in perpetuity is not good enough. Not for a club of our fanbase and stature I think we as fans have a duty to put FSG under pressure and give them the easy ride they have now. This acceptable of mid ranking seems to be tacit if thats the aims of the club let FSG say it offcially and then we can let them know what we think.

stanley, why do you keep going on about fanbase, other Clubs have big fan bases does'nt mean they should be playing champions League or win leagues, look at Leeds United and Sheff Wed they have bigger fan bases than Fulham, West Brom and Stoke City If you look at Leeds United and Everton they have bigger fan bases than Spurs and City and Wolves have a bigger fan base than Wigan and Reading it means absolutely nothing just because you have loads of fans, United and Celtic have arguably the biggest fan bases in the world all that matters is the money and power you have and ability to buy the best players while giving them the most money. If Messi left Barca tomorrow how many Clubs do you think he would pick before he came to us and do you think he would be worried by how many fans we had, dont think so.

i think priority for liverpool is to try to build the team and club back up after years of turmoil poor and egotistical managers and weak and greedy board rooms and stop the demanding by the fans of wanting 4th place over night .
