Good article indeed. Re youth, IMHO, watch out for Morgan, Gainford, Lussey, Sinclair, Trickett-Smith, Ibe and Peterson in the U-18s/U-21s. Morgan & Sinclair have already featured in the first team. These kids are very good.

Interesting article which can explain a lot of things. This also means that FSG doesn't want or cannot take financial risks, therefore they went for an operational risk by appointing a manager that could do things differently. In business it would be like an innovation strategy to succeed. Nevertheless, it is a gamble, hopefully it pays off.

It definitely was a gamble, but I have every faith in Brendan Rodgers and I think (and hope!) that he'll be our manager for the next decade at least. If he achieves that he'll definitely be doing something right. Rafa and Ged both got 6 years each - that's the record to beat! grin

Maybe he can even lead LFC to the PL title before Fergie retires/croaks laugh

My only reservation with the article is that it puts a lot of emphasis on Brendan's 'bravery' in bringing the youngsters through. He's been forced to play them due to the club not buying replacements for kuyt, bellamy and maxi. If he'd been given another £20m-£30m this summer the majority of fans would still know very little about sterling, wisdom & suso. BR has been 'lucky' that they've done reasonably well so far - he hasn't been brave.

While I partly agree with this, I think a lot of other managers may have went with the 'safer' bet of playing the experience of Downing and Cole ahead of Sterling and Suso. Alternatively, he could have persisted with Downing at LB and Johnson at RB and not given Wisdom a shot. He does deserve credit for regularly playing all 3 while the likes of Cole, Downing, Enrique or Borini have been benched or sitting in the stands.

He could also have persisted with Hendo, Downing, Adam, Spearing... and brought Cole back right away. I think he deserves some credit for his selection choices.

I think he has been brave in some cases (Robinson and Suso), chosen the best option in other cases (Raheem who was getting closer and closer having been training with the first team squad and on the bench at the end of last season) and also had no choice (Wisdom) because of injuries. I also think though, that if he was given a huge transfer kitty, he might have gone with buying experienced players instead of youngsters, but this, we'll never know, as apparently he didn't go for Sturridge.

Last but not least, going for youngsters can be brave or stupid depending on how we finish the season.

Still feel its important to have a plan b.....city bring on dzeko most weeks when they're struggling .....he causes mayhem sometimes he scores sometimes someone else gets it. I'm not saying big Andy is the answer (im a big fan of his) but every team needs plan b. Remember dave fairclough....ole gunnar solskaer. Chelsea found barca out last year and inter did it too. The way buck and barca and historically us play is brilliant and will get results most of the time bit sometimes just sometimes ye need a plan b.

FSG need to realise that the buy young policy cannot generally extend to strikers. You can mould players to any other position except in the striking department. Prolific strikers are a different animal all-together talent wise born with skills that you cannot really learn in training. Strikers also generally get better with age because of experience and generally have longer playing lives.
