The FA is not run by football people (people who have been in and around the game) Until that happens the public will not have any faith in them. One of the reasons people dont trust the government as they are not the typical run of the mill man/women on the street.

Having a black director would make the board more diverse I agree but it would not necessarily make them more accountable or reasonable on the basis of having a director who happens to be black.

2 interesting responses by EMP and keefe: EMP is saying things would be better if the FA members were democratically elected; keefe is saying that the country is badly run by people who ARE democratically elected.

In a nutshell then, we have no way of saying which is best. The FA 'might' run things better if the members were voted in, they might not. One thing's for certain though, the success of any such scheme would depend on the individual members' morals, integrity, professionalism and intelligence...and NOT their skin colour. To suggest that things would be better if we threw a few blacks into the mix is very offensive to white people and very patronising to blacks. People should be elected on their own merits.

I thought this thread would just fizzle out without the need to comment. What a ridicalous idea this would be. A black footballers association? So right at the time when football needs us all to come together as one they want to split it in to two? And not even the rich against poor but split it in to race? Terrible, terrible idea. Doesn't matter what race you are as Carheex said it should be based on your personal merits. Whether your black or white in this country and involved in politics in anyway it just seems your heads wedged up your ass. So all in all doesnt really matter to me. Still gonna be corruption in all aspects.

The problem with the FA is more than just poor racial representation - it is a crusty 'old boys' club and full of cronyism and elitism. It's leading members are out of touch with society and even the game.

Ferdinand is too thick to be purposefully anti-racist. I think he lacks intellect and complexity, which is a blight on modern footballers of all races. They spend their entire youth chasing a ball but develop little else - then we make millionaires of them. I used to think that British sportsmen should be made to go through the college system a la US athletes - but the latter are no better in terms of intelligence. In fact, it is a farce because they just cheat their way through in order to keep playing sports. This touches on the reason why English players do poorly on the international scene or playing abroad - our players (prime example - Wayne Rooney) are just mentally underdeveloped. The have no sophistication and it shows in their football.

Understatement of the year.

I 100% agree KP surely English footballers with the money their on should be made go through a college system. I actually cant find 1 fault in that post it makes so much sense. Alot of players you see play week in week out are visibly unintelligent and uneducated. Its a hard point to explain but in my head it makes sense. The one about them having football bread in to them (which is fair enough, brilliant) but thats all they have.
