does anyone know if there is a black person on the FA board of directors or if there ever was. Can that really be a good thing

it cant b a good thing because its not proportionate to the amount of black players playing football. however, the right candidate has to b appointed, regardless of colour or filling qoutas.they tried this in northern ireland were police recruitment had to be 50% catholic and 50% protestant.this hasnt worked as more suitable candidates were overlooked to fill these qoutas

Can I ask a question? Why would it be a bad thing not to have a director who happens to be black?

There should never be quotas introduced for anything based on race or gender and people should be appointed based on their expertise.

If it's a case where people are being overlooked as a result of their race, that is a completely different area and shouldn't be tolerated

because there is a lack of representation. if every director has been white then it can't be representative of the diversity in the game. surely the FA would function better if it represented the differnent races that they rule over,no? Isn't the fact that its always been all white just down to the fact that they are elite white club , and its nearly inherited..usually corrupt too and crap for the game

I don't agree with that at all. Just because there may be 10% of black players it doesn't mean there should be 10% of black staff at the FA!! What if there was a country with no black players at all but the best person for the FA was black - would he be ruled out as his presence would be disproportionate?

The best person for the job is whoever is best suited - you can't have every race, disability, language, religion and sexual orientation on a board of directors just to keep the PC cretins happy!

and its also a well known 'fact' that corruption only exists in ''white'' countries and organisations. Why, look at the example set in Africa for transparency and respect of political opponents and business rivals!

I personally don't see things from a race point of view, I'd see it more of a social point of view and that the FA is run by a social class that is fairly disconnected with the vast majority of its members.

I do take your point on representation though and the FA definitely needs a shake up in that regard

and who sets the criteria for whose best suited, the incumbent white men. say for instance there was an elected permenant supports representative on the board then perhaps the FA wouldn't have allowed hillbrough to operate without a licence..representation should be the pressing issue not who white privelaged FA memebers think is suited for the job

What makes you think black FA members would make better decisions!? They might well make better decisions but if they do it's because of their individual decision making skills and integrity - it has sweet "FA" to do with what colour they are.
It's just as likley that the same mistakes would have been made if the whole FA was black.

it would make the board more diverse,accountable and reasonable. this is not a democratic board yet they deal in a very public areana. It would make sense for it to reflect society.
