Totally agree. However, this will only work if they keep on increasing revenues, ie, the fan base stays large and the fans continue to spend (merchandise and tickets). Now if we don't perform on the field, we will find it difficult to qualify fo champions league (no revenue) and the fans will be spending less and less (both on tickets and merchandise) and even erode. If they don't take risks there will be no reward as in any business. I maintain though that the FFP MIGHT be a game changer, this is what they are bettin on, we'll see soon how it works.

They will cover the loss of CL football with an increase in ticket sales/stadium capacity. Therefore when they sell, the value of the club will have increased due to a larger capacity. This explains the lack of, or slowing down of financial support for the team as that won't increase the value of the club. It's all part of an exit strategy where they get the maximum return for the minimum investment.

Will the 60k seat capacity be filled if we are not competing for top positions? I think that international shirts' sales will go down.

I suspect they will. Us fans are like that. There are plenty of clubs that never win sod all yet they can easily sell out their stadiums on a regular basis. We're no longer a club that regularly wins thinsg yet our attendances haven't flagged. That's probably why FSG bought a club with such a loyal fan base - they knew that no matter how bad things get the stadium will always be packed.

I always thought they paid £350m but you may be right cp1972 they paid the price of the net in other words the net asset price of the club £220m no goodwill or anything. That is theft no wonder Gillet and Hicks wanted to sue. Even if Liverpool just stay mid table they are on a winner with our fanbase and history. Not so good for us fans though stanley one trophy in seven years is not going to keep a fanbase mate, success and success alone attratcts the modern fan and as for history gets you absolutely nothing once the ref blows his whistel to start a game, very nice to look back on but thats about it. If the Club does'nt play Champions League football then forget about it, we will just carry on being nobodies unless you want to dig up our rich history which to the modern fan under 30 does'nt mean a monkey's chuff.

Being; Liverpool- is specifically targetting the US fan who are moving towards Football from the traditional home sports, currently 30mil following and expected to raise to 50+mil in three years, if only 10% of that group supported Liverpool then we are looking at 500,000 new fans buying merchandise etc, paying subscriptions etc. my point is not that this is a bad thing but the need for FSG to leave now is not there. It would be madness, steady funding of the team and a genuine marketing plan can propell this club massively over the next 3yrs

Liverpool are still one of the worlds top 10 clubs financially and in terms of shirt sales n05 so again your dramatic comments are incorrect. we as a club do need champions league football but do not need nor want to waste 300million to get it(cITY, cHELSEA, PSG). As this will severly prevent the club from remaining in the champions league come FFP. we have a young and exciting first team and a truly fantastic u21s team which should allow us to control our spending over the next five years. The TOP players we buy will then be cheaper(market forces due to FFP) and the competition will be hamstrung by previuos lavish spending.

You talk about the young players we have well as soon as they reach a certain level one of the big clubs will just come along and take him off us, this is how football works, we used to do it to Clubs with there best talent too when we were one of the big clubs, swings and roundabouts am afraid.
