But your first post said you genuinely feel they are here to get us back to where we were and have a genuine understanding of the fans and the city etc. Then you go on to call them cowboys and slag them. Which is it?

Of course FSG are here to make money! Who in their right mind would buy a club and expect to make a loss and pour a sh1tload of their own money into it without getting a return on their investment?

At the end of the day Football is a business and all owners are in it to make money!

Question: How do they make money?

Answer: Success! If we don't perform on the pitch our fan base begins to disappear and we don't find new ones! Then the revenue decreases and the owners lose money....quite simple really.

I don't give a sh1t whether they love the club or not so long as they have the clubs best interest at heart. Which in my opinion they do because it's THEIR business!

In saying that it would be great to have owners who are truly passionate about the CLUB but how many clubs at this level have owners who have that passion? Not too many I think!

OK i understand they have to get a roi but when u have money on ur mind and u forget this is Liverpool with die-heart fans and people who sacrifice their all to purchase tickets and other team gear, then there is a problem...What happened with the whole Dempsey situation was completely unacceptable and it wasnt BR's fault but the damn owners. Guess what?now we have to suffer...playing good football with no players to score.

I think John Smith, Peter Robinson and David Moores did run the Club to make a profit but at the same team they actualy wanted the Club to succeed, win trophies and be the best, these American Owners want to make a profit but dont care one little bit wether we finish first or fourth from bottom just as long as they are getting the most money they can out of the Club while at the same putting in as least they can, this is the big difference.

How can the club make a profit without doing those things? Silly argument. When has a losing team ever been profitable?

Arsenal is profitable and will be more. They haven't won anything for a long time. This is the example FSG wants to follow

no doubt when FSG bought the club they had done some due diligence and quite simply at 220mil we were a steal. Their expertise lies in maximising returns whilst increasing the asset value. So the asset today is worth 450mil(reasonable guesstimate).

The long term term potential of the asset is 1bil+, This could take 5yrs to attain through prudent investment and mangaement of costs. Having control over spending via wages and fees was a priority and generally we are in a good place, albeit by luck as well as judgement.

the final stage was the big push - ie stadium. This will materialise for what I would consider a lowly sum of 150mil vs the 400mil quoted by Hicks/Gillete and even the 250mil sum from Parry/Moores era.

therefore the club will not be sadled with debt, have a good strong income to expenduture return(less than 50%). And assets on and off the pitch. Quite simply a near perfect business model akin to Bayern Munich. why would they sell? only if the asset has reached it's maximum valuation would they consider selling- with new markets starting to open(US + ASIA) this seems unlikely in the short term, yet year on year they will continue to reap a steady dividend from a strong well run club which effectively finances itself.

they could have easilly made 250mil this year if they had sold us. Yet I feel that their expected date for sale is further away especially given that FFP looks like it has teeth and the new SKY deal comes in next year.

this is a very fair point. Alot of the recent league winners around EUROPE have all come form the big out of control spenders. PSG, chelsea, city, madrid.

Times are a changing and I expect this to change over the next 5yrs as FFP and other schemes will be introduced into each league.

I always thought they paid £350m but you may be right cp1972 they paid the price of the net in other words the net asset price of the club £220m no goodwill or anything. That is theft no wonder Gillet and Hicks wanted to sue. Even if Liverpool just stay mid table they are on a winner with our fanbase and history. Not so good for us fans though
