I would like to see the assist stats for both players to gain a better fix on their respective merits as strikers. At this remove I'm still leaning towards Rush, but that might be sentiment.

Rush was ok but slightly overrated. When he came back from Juventus for the second spell I thought he was quite ordinary and it would have been better I think had we left alond and kept aldo. Just my opinion but it was the partnership with Dalglish that made him. Don't get me wrong he was a great player but not as good as Fowler or Torres in my view.

Large parts of that second spell rush was in (as per the utube) and out of the team as he was dropped by kenny. Also when he first came back he did not score for ages like crouch almost. He was a great striker no question but for me Fowler and Torres were better perhaps not as finishers but all round they were.

ian rush it is fact his record proves it and the goals he scored remember Dinamo Bucharest away 84 , villa on a frozen pitch hatrick friday night game 83 plus all his derby goals and thats only a fraction of what ian rush did.
