iv read alot on here that people are quite into the idea of pompeys glen johnson. personally not a fan. but then again i dont really watch him. is he REALLY that good or is it a budget thing? because i would much prefer romas panucci (ok hes old but i reckon kinda cheap as they have cicinho) or maicon.

This one puzzles me a bit as well tbh.

he's decent going forward but he's not a great defender by any stretch of the imagination. just seemed to be one of these ones where it was on a rumour site at some point and everyone jumped on it and took it as fact that Liverpool wanted him.

there are not much better out there at all he is brilliant young-ish british RB who already plays in the PL and would be good enough in the CL and he would half the price of ramos so he fits all criteria's where exactly is the down side ??

where exactly is the down side ??

the fact he's not as good a defender as Arbeloa plus it would be one more person standing in the way of Darby getting his chance in the first team, who is a genuine talent.

second that mate. i would most prefer darby to come through as understudy to arbeloa. which is also why i thought a panucci would be good because he wont be playing much longer therefore not restricting darbys progress

but arbeloa can't attack at all and where has this johnson can't defend stuff start he is a brilliant all round right back

Arbeloa is fine going forward, he's no Alves or Cafu but he does his job just fine.

Johnson is incredibly average and for the amount of money they'd want due to him being English, really can't see him being worth it (this will of course all change in the summer when Rafa decides to buy him and i say i thought he was great all along!)

while we are on the subject of right backs, what was the reason of getting rid of finnan?!?!?! i cant see one

he was old but still worth some money so raf did what any good business man does and took the money before finnan was too old to sell
