I thought you wanted the 1st team played?
its a very good competition for us to win, probably the best thing a Club like ours will ever do so for our manager to treat it like he did tonite by showing it no respect even though we claimed a victory is in my book not right. Once the team was on the pitch I did enjoy watching the youthful innocence of attitude the young team played with, like I say quite refreshing but no way does it alter the fact our manager took the p*ss out of the competition by leaving all those first teamers at home.

What? But if we played them and one got injured you'd still moan about it plus now we've a completely injury free and fresh squad for the United game. We won and now we'll get through the group stages if we beat Young Boys, Udinese and Anzhi at home. 12 points should do.

Dont think Downing was the worst. He got quite alot of decent balls in the box but no one was there to convert them
Jose Enrique was the worst player on park
Andre Wisdom, Henderson and Shelvey where most impressive The only ones that stood out for me where coates, suso and assaidi.

only question now is, what will the team be on sunday? I think the back 4 picks itself: Kelly, Agger, Skrtle, Johnson. The front 3 only has 2 options really, Suarez, Borini, Sterling or Assaidi, Suarez, Sterling. Pretty sure the 1st option is what BR will go for, potentially bringin Assaidi on later in the game.
So the only real question mark is over who plays in the centre? Allen is nailed on if u ask me, and after tonight, so should Shelvey be, but that means dropping Sahin, assuming that Gerrard will most likely play. But who plays the attacking role out of Shelvey and Gerrard?
So i think its pretty much gauranteed to be
Kelly-----Agger-----Skrtle-----Johnson -------Allen-------Gerrard/Shelvey---- ----------Shelvey/Gerrard------------- Sterling-------Borini-------Suarez----

Our squad for the league is 20 men, and 4 of them are keepers. Our squad isn't big enough to send out our strongest team twice a week.

If you make it a public priority to play the strongest side in the Premier League (which we have done), how is it taking the [oops]? I would imagine that owners have told Brendan to prioritise the league and use the cups as a stepping stone for young players. We might not agree with that strategy, but it is what it is. If it can help us get another Sterling into the side, I won't complain.
