not for BR no. He realised that the likes of Spearing and Adam are not suited to his style and needed to change that before anything

so even BR was perhaps 50/50 on getting a striker ??

if thats so..we need to calm down and wait for players to adapt to the system...goals will come

No I think he felt his midfield was sorted and then seemed to have got assurances about replacing Carroll if he was moved on. I think Dempsey straddles both the attacking midfield and forward options so was a perfect stop gap for this season before identifying an out and out striker next season.

I thought the window was an unqualified success until Deadline day where we seemed to be left very short of options.

and with all that happened regarding dempsey ..was he thinking fulham will surrender that easily.

why would u keep till last day for a deal to go through

for me there are couple of scenarios to leave it that late.

1. u have enough money to compete with other clubs for that
player.
2. u are sure that the target will only move to ur club as there
are no other clubs interested or the player
just wants to join ur club (lfc).
3. theres another player incase things dont work out

in our case it seems we wernt really in

we had to have been in for someone though if it wasn't Dempsey, it makes little sense to loan Carroll out otherwise

Houllier stated a top team needs a back up for every position and that means (in a 442) four top class strikers.

I have always thought this would cause issues of unrest with the two that don't play. In BR's team there is essentially a single striker supported by two who can score goals.

We have not had enough fire-power since Torres was bought. All the eggs went into his basket and it only worked because SG was unplayable. Since then SG has lost his consistency and is a shadow of his former self, and along with it the goals have dried up. The eggs now lie with Suarez. He is capable of scoring lots of goals, the problem is every other team knows it so he gets extra attention and the goals dry up.
We need a forward with pace. I had actually convinced myself that Walcott was going to be a solution.
People will say Sterling is the answer to my question but I personally don't think he has the experience and should have been loaned out.

Either way we will need a forward in January.

1. to get him off the wage bill...

2. loan him to big sam who will play to carrolls strength to recoup as much as possibly can from his sale next year.

realistic enough?

that makes perfect sense on the condition that someone was coming in to replace him which didn't happen. I have no bother with BR deciding Carroll wasn't for him, that's his choice although I personally felt he had something to offer

see mate...with very tight budget would you prefer to make a house just enough to make it livable first (water n electricity)

or would you first go to market and buy a gigantic HD TV and think u can live happily with it (tiki taka in our case)

sorry couldnt think of a better metaphor laugh

I know what I'd prefer but BR prefers his HD smile

He thought he was still able to sell the kitchen table though to buy some silverware but he's been left eating dinner in front of the tv with his hands

confusing enough yet?
