Given all the talk about FSG,strikers and deadline day...

just want to ask you guys what was our real problem last season and what did we really invest on in summer with whatever cash we had.

to start with I think our problem was not scoring enough goals last season and a proven striker should have been the priority

this time we rather concentrated on improving our midfield and rightly did and left it real late to get a striker..

tells us what was prioritized and we fairly are better there...

so why crying over strikers now

I think even a blind man knew our problem Muj, we needed a striker big time, a lethal striker not any 10 goal a season striker, we never got one. Its a joke a club as big as this is without a proper striker. Suarez isn't a proper one either if your thinking.

Muj our midfield is definitely better but having a golden midfield isn't going to compensate for a goal scorer. We need someone to put the ball in the back of the net and we have not had one since Torres and even he went stale in his last year.

then shouldnt it be a stiker in place of Borini+allen..

allen is great.no doubts....suggests either BR had no idea what was our last seasons problems or he accepted that he needs to implement titi tata his way with limited cash and we rather spent 15m or so to implement that and not on proven striker....??

Yip we needed a prolific striker.

We got no one and made our manager a public lauging stock into the bargain.

It is pathetic that LFC are looking for "free agents" to fill the shirt worn by Rush, Fowler and Torres.

Last season, the lack of an out and out goal poacher was our main problem IMO.

However BR has always stated that MF is the main area he wanted to reinvest in so he made sure to get Allen. He also got Borini who may or may not work out but its way too early to judge on him. Assaidi as a winger was also needed but we still need to see how he gets on once he gets time.

Our expenditure so far seems to be
Allen - 15m plus (est) 3mil wages - 18
Borini -10m plus (est) 2mil wages - 12
Assaidi - 3mil plus (est) 1.5mil wages 4.5
Sahin - 6/7 mil total
Yesil - 1 + .5 - 1.5

I'd estimate total expenditure at somewhere between 41-44mil

Our savings
Kuyt- 1mil + 4 mil - 5
Maxi - 4mil
Aurelio - 3.5
Aqua - 5mil but paid off 5 - wages off the books 4.5mil
Carroll- 1mil + 3.5 mil - 4.5
Adam - 4mil + 3mil - 7
Bellamy - 3.5m
Spearing - 1.5m


Roughly generating between 32-36 million

The net spend looks like only been 12mil to me but these are all estimates and guesswork

I reckon BR sees this as a complete rebuild and as the way he wants his team to play is dictated mostly by the MF, that is the area he has strengthened most. Next season or January if the funds are there will be the time to spend big on a striker

so that suggests striker was never a priority?

We definitely needed a stiker or two, we will see now how Borini develops but we needed a proven striker now, it would be helpful if any of the the other players can chip in though when the the stikers have an off day, or year in our case. We can barely name one player we can rely on to score? and now looking at the bench doesnt fill anyone with reassurance, much the same as last year really, or fare to say its worse.
