Only been three games in and the calls for "Rodgers Out" are already doing the rounds on the interwebs. But I dont think the future will be all that bad and here's why:

1) The age of the team. We have an average age of 23.44yrs for the players that were fielded in our three games. This is the youngest out of all the premier league sides. Now this might not have any immediate benefit, but young players that get 1st team games at an early stage in their career will vastly improve compared to their bench warming counterparts (City and Chelsea etc.). Like I said we may not see benefits in the short term but give it three years or so and I recon we will have quality players, who are settled at LFC for a fraction of the cost of other PL teams.

2) Fixtures. Sure 1pt out of 9pts aint pretty. But factor in the young team, new players, new manager, tough fixtures, teeny transfer budget and new style of play it really isnt surprising that in the early satges of rodgers PL Anfield career things are tough. It will take time to gel and I honestly think that it is just as well we have tough games at the start when the team are learning how to play together. Which sounds worse: 1pt from WBA, Man City and Arsenal or 1pt from Norwich, Wigan and Reading? Eventually as the season rolls on we will build up momentum and when facing against more direct teams and I reckon our possesion based style, that has hopefully gelled better by then, will pay dividends.

3) Financial fair play. This is key for LFC. If sucessfully implemented it will be the great equaliser for big flamboyantly spending teams in the PL. Since Henry has come in he seems to have organised the club with this in mind. Like the point I made with the young squad, this wont have any immediate benefits but over the long term it will ensure we are more financially prepared for the comming years than the rest of the top 6 and will allow us to steal a march on our rivals.

4) We are trying. Much like Kennys reign, so far we are getting the shots in and creating chances but not putting them away. Currently we are 5th in the league table of total shots with 52 shots taken in three games. But yet again our crap conversion has let us down. We are joint bottom of the conversion table with 4% conversion rate in the PL. Intrestingly Arsenal are also with us on 4%. We made a huge f**k up in not buying a striker in the transfer window but we do have some great midfielders with good shots. Probably gonna get stick for saying this but I can see us playing either Shelvey or Gerrard up front. Something simmilar to Cesc Fabregas with Spain in the Euros. Hopefully it can see us through till Jan. Either that or we can find a free agent before then.

Remember when we were nearly in administration? We were so close to it yet people forget that part quick enough. Now we have a driven, young manager who will give 100%, a youthful squad with some stars for the future. We managed to retain our key players and also reduced our wage bill considerably.

A year is a short time in the history of a club. Look at Shankly and how he turned us around. It didnt happen overnight, and it wont happen overnight with Rodgers either. We have to be realistic in that it will take us about three years to implement our strategies. Sure it's a bit of a ball ache but I have utmost confidince that if we give things time and be REALISTIC we will be reaping what we sow in the future.

Rember: WE'VE ONLY PLAYED THREE GAMES!!

Here's to a good future and support to the team.

Great post, some sense at last. We r 3 bloody games in! after man city game it was '' rodgers is great, top 4 here we come'' blah blah blah. Bit of realism needed, its gony take time for the the team to become consistent and the system to work. No need to panic.

A soothing voice in a sea of despair, Red Man. grin

Great post, puts our position into perspective and hopefully calms a lot of people down, myself included.

Who is panicking. Up to now we are a point better off than I expected. Sunderland a defeat and Manu too.

I just cannot grasp (considering the uprooting of everything on the playing side) why this would be such a shock and not the more probable outcome?

Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.
