Liverpool have today confirmed Glen Johnson suffered a medial ligament injury to his right knee during Tuesday night's 1-0 victory at Aston Villa.

The Reds' defender was assessed by the club's medical team at Melwood earlier today and underwent a scan which revealed the extent of the injury which forced him to limp off after 88 minutes at Villa Park.

A club spokesman said: "A scan today has revealed a tear in the medial ligament in Glen's right knee. The player will see a specialist tomorrow, after which we should be able to more accurately determine the length of his rehabilitation period."

according to physioroom.com which is usually quite accurate, Kelly and Riera will both be fit by 10th Jan, so maybe in time for the Spurs game

This surely doesnt help considering our run of poor form but an injury is an injury and im sure Carra or Degan can cover til he returns

Carragher gives us nothing on the attacking front if he plays RB. All he does is pass the ball back to Reina. Plus he thinks he is too "good" for RB.

We might have no choice than to play carra at right back. He'll be better defensively, but nowhere near as good from an attacking point of view.I just hope johnson, while out injured, reads the haynes manual on defending!!Could use stephen darby, give him another go.Especially against reading.Don't like that degan though, don't rate him at all.
