I have to admit I was thinking the same thing, but we have to ask, are our players any better than whats at WBA or teams from the middle down? downing? henderson? carroll? adam? kelly(he's a cb in my book)Carra(legend but way past his best)Gerrard(same as carra legend but not at his best for a little while now) all big names but what have they done in the last 12-18 months? saurez is a scorer of great goals but not a great goalscorer! Reina looked like he cba last year and Allen and Borini will need time to settle.
As for the Owners, well they need to take a reality check if the are waiting for fifa fairplay to even the playing field, its never going to happen! we need a new ground to compete with mufc/aresnal and/or an arab to compete with city and chelsea so what do they do sell us on? build a new ground? or let us slip even further behind and keep feeding us the cock and bull story.
BR is our best hope if he can work a miracle and get us into the cl this and following seasons we will have money otherwise we will sit mid-table until something big happens.
Never argue with an idiot, they drag you down to their level and beat you with experience

I am not happy one bit like the rest of you but I am in no way going on Rodger's back just yet. He needs time.

What I ask myself is, how well do they know football? They probably did not even understand the rules 2 years back, they said it themselves, they are learning. Ian Ayre is running the commercial side, but who takes football decisions like sacking a manager and appointing a new one? Who says if a player is overpriced or not? Sorry mate, I don't understand how it works. You say they are here for the long term, but, what I see happening in the very short term is LFC loosing its global appeal with mediocre results at the expense of other teams like Chelsea and City. Our brand value and revenue will go down drastically and we'll end up as a mid table team, not having the finances to compete. Not being in the Champions league (for 3 years) has hurt us big time and I unfortunately I do not see us coming back with the current structure. What our owners fail to understand is that winning trophies is the most important thing to keep the global brand going even if it is league cup or FA cup. Coming back to BR ,I would love him to do well, but, unfortunately I can't see this happening quick enough, if he wants to change our game completely (assuming he is next only to Pep G), it will take not only an awful lot of time but he will also have to change most of the team (and we do not have the money for that). He has to adapt our with the players that are going to stay (most of them are internationals for god sake, you cannot say WBA players are better) else we are doomed. I don't even understood why Clarke was sacked, was it just to have everything new and clean as a baby??? He said that he wanted to stay and even BR wanted him to stay at least at the beginning. I am lost, let's hope next few results can prove me wrong.

A lot of that is the media and our 24 hour news cycles. Everything JH or BR says gets recycled 50 different ways. I really don't think their PR is that bad. They need to improve it, yes, but it's early days with a lot of new people still gelling together. For all the doom and gloom on this site - and the gutless responses of defeatism to one bleedin' game - I think we are better off than we were three years ago under H&G, minutes away from administration. It's not happening fast enough for some people (and I too struggle with patience) but the squad is slowly getting leaner and younger and less wage bloated. Our three new players all have potential - we've shifted some aging players - and there is still time for more business and reshaping. I can go along with lot of that Kop, but I have to admit I am concerned, not so much by yesterday's defeat, but by the lack of any worthwhile action in the transfer market. It looks to me like our owners have given up on breaking into the top 4 in the near future, the kind of money they are making available is only able to sign 'potential' and we all know where that often leads. If we are to stay in touch with the competition we need to compete on all fronts and we are not doing that with investment.

I am not happy one bit like the rest of you but I am in no way going on Rodger's back just yet. He needs time. I blame the players for yesterday more than the manager. I don't think he told them to play like a pub team and give up so easily. Of course he has to take his share of the responsibility as some of the players were his signings but managers do get a lot of un warranted stick at times. And I don't see how FSG can be blamed for yesterday either! BR's way of playing has proven to be very effective - if the players aren't executing it then they are the ones who should shoulder the blame. £40m+ for agger & skrtel??? yes please and we'll even throw in gerrard on the back of yesterdays 'performance!'

can we save the hysteria for at least a few months, please?
you know when BR was saying "it'll take time", "there's a big job to be done here" etc. he wasn't managing expectations, he was telling us the truth. and due to no CL football for 3 years and the fact that 'king' kenny [oops] 100M or so up the wall there isn't a lot of money going around at the club.
am i the only one happy that the club has a clear philosophy now?

Rodgers said: 'There is a big job to do and we will have more days like this along the way. That is the reality of it. It is still a work in progress.
What the fck is this all about? im not buying this for a second. why cant good players perform now? its not like we inherited prisoners from another camp in Escape to Victory. Im sorry, i like Brendan, but this is a load of [oops].
This could be our 4th manager failure. couple that with owners who have been touting the above quote to excuse the fact they havent turned things round.
The possible verdict on all this is: We have owners who dont have the means, and a manager who needs longer than we have. The best post on this saga I've read in a year or so. That is basically the size of it in a nut shell, end of.
Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.

I think we will finish around the 6th place mark. That is where the players we have dictate we should finish. We have around about the 6th best team and around about the 6th best squad. It's hard seeing defeats like this and comments like Rodgers' for those who had ridiculous expectations of us finishing top 4 this year, but it is their own fault for having expectations that were based on nothing but whimsical hope. We had an okay squad and bought decent players. That doesn't=top 4. We will have plenty of these defeats or draws but hopefully given a bit of time Rodgers can help some players kick on as I don't think we have much money left.
There were some differences to last year in the system, but a lot of it was the same. Suarez still missing sitters is the biggest worry, along side our very good defence last year now looks incredibly shakey (from the off not just when agger got sent off).
I really think what is best for liverpool is a (as much as possible) pressureless season. No more ridiculously unfounded optimism of our squad performing miracles and getting top 4, and no more ridiculously unfounded knee jerk reactions to bad results. The best teams in the country have results like these some times, and we are far far far behind them, so we will have them more often. It happens. I'm content to just swallow my anger at seeing my team a shadow of its former self and see were BR can take us. He needs more money though, as we can't keep buying decent to good players and hoping they will turn top 4 standard. It won't work. Kenny wasted our chance to do something about our first 11 miserably, the owners have to give BR another bite of that cherry.
Some points from the game though,
I actually thought borini and suarez look pretty exciting together. Johnson looked good. CD looked like they don't know what they were doing. Downing is still one of my most hated Liverpool players ever. Gerrard was very very quiet (maybe Clarke new how to take him out of the game?) Reina's distribution is getting better again. I have to put downing twice just for how god awful it is that he will be starting most games.

All this is too early but I guess we have to talk about something. If we beat city I expect to see can we win the title threads popping up. We cannot make even a basic judgement of Rodgers until Oct ish.

I was furious on Saturday when I found out the result but patience is definitely the key here. We need stability within the management team and I believe Rogers must be given time, two seasons at the very least regardless of what happens. (apart from relegation)
