We could have an early effect in the first few weeks of the season with lots of really big games at home. If we got 12 points from the first 6 games I would have us top 4 and so would a lot of people. Our problem is always against the more unfashionable teams when we rarely play well. And we start against one of them who beat us last season. All ifs, buts and maybes as usual.
Like a lot of people I think the top 2 will be the same and their two horse race may start even earlier this season. United have improved their squad and City will have Tevez back all season.
For us a full season out of Gerrard/Agger/Lucas/Suarez will be enough for a top 4 finish. Add the pen misses from last season converted to goals and half the woodwork ones going in and 3rd can be achieved.
I think the Terry thing will drag on and affect Chelsea as much as losing Drogba. Arsenal will struggle without RVP's goals and their signings may struggle with the pace of the game here. Newcastle will not follow up last season's performance. They were as surprisingly good as we were surprisingly poor. Everton having lost a couple of players will rely on an ageing team. If they finish within 12 points of us then we will have had a bad season. Spurs losing Modric and being short of strikers will find them out very quickly.
City and United aside it all boils down to which team has adapted best to the changes in manager and personnel available. Surprise teams for me QPR to do well and Villa to do poorly.
1. Man U 2. Man C 3. Liverpool 4. Chelsea 5. Arsenal 6. Spurs 7. Newcastle 8. Everton 9. Norwich 10 QPR 11 West Ham 12 Wigan 13 Fulham 14 Southampton 15 Stoke 16 Swansea 17 Reading 18 West Brom 19 Aston Villa 20 Sunderland
no chance of sunderland or villa going down

I must admit I obviously watch a different ball game to some people because I cant in a million years see how we can challenge for the top four. Top four is nailed on as usual, Spurs have a new manager and could be losing Modric but they still have considerable talent to see them finish fifth, Newcastle will always stand a better chance of winning more games over a season than us because they have a better attack, they are also more settled. I think we are going to need a bit of time in order to start playing Brendan's way dont see how it can happen overnite and surely there will be teething problems as players try to adapt, seventh place for me slightly ahead of Everton.

Possibly not but I see the bottom 10 all being candidates in March and Villa and Sunderland are two that have gone into freefall the last two seasons. Both play some truly awful stuff and I just think that this season they won't suck as many in to their poor level.

Difference is we were in two cups and were without Suarez for 8 games, Gerrard for half the season and Lucas for even more. We changed our priorities. I just think that this season someone bigger than normal is going to fall from grace. The likes of Stoke and Wigan are battlers. Sunderland have released a £9m keeper and are pinning their hopes on Louis Saha now that Bendtner is gone.

Steven Gerrard will probably miss a similar amount of games this season because I think Brendan Rogers will use him sparingly to prolong his career and protect him. We were not without Suarez for 8 games it was just 4 and if you look at the results and performances it showed we are a better team without him as we beat City in the Semi Final, knocked United out of the F.A.Cup and beat Wolves 3-0 away which was one of our best performances all season. I really cant see one of the big four dropping out, I think it does happen once in a blue moon but that was last season when both Chelsea and Arsenal had poor season by there standards, we had no Europe and still could'nt capatilise and that is with having spent over 100 million pound. I think if one was to drop out Spurs and Newcastle are much more in a stronger position to capatilise than we are, for me this season is all about stabilising the team and trying to get closer to Spurs and Newcastle.

He may look like an old tranny but you have to respect and admire Arsene Wenger. Ferguson aside, he's the best manager in the game.

Ferguson aside, he's the best manager in the game. i know what your saying carheex but most of what i said was tongue in cheek i think wenger is very clever in replacing players and i think he already has replaced rvp with podolski and giroud to a certain extent but do think song might be the harder to replace if he does leave as i think he is the only midfielder they have with any presence but i think we will be a lot closer to the top four than most think yeah we were bad last season but we had our worst season since the 50's paired with our two best midfielder's missing a large part of the season which had to hurt might just be wishful thinking but i think we will be close
