[/i]If your gonna spend money, make it worthwhile, we can get better from other clubs in a similar position to ourselves. Like Sturridge, Walcott, van Persie, Dempsey, Dembele, Ba, Ben Arfa etc etc[/i]

We were the only team in for him and had to pay well over the odds because of the agreement about not going back for his ex-players.

I think you are missing the point.. Everytime we currently go for a player the price goes up by a few million. Even before we bought Carroll we had this problem. Arsenal don't get this, neither do spurs. The sooner we address this, the sooner we are no longer looked at as an easy target.

The simple fact is Allen is worth that money. Borini is also worth the money we paid for him. Siggy clearly was not. Time will tell but so far I couldn't be happier with how BR is going about his business.

I think maybe of the 2 players he wanted Allen more.

I see Modric has left for Spain apparently ( I know, I know, another rumour) but that will hurry things up at Spuds now.

How do you know that Allen is worth £15m+? How do you know Borini is worth £10m?
When you think of what other teams have spent £15m on in the last year or 2, the likes of Joe Allen (virtually unheard of and unproven) don't even compare. He 'might' come good but no one knows. We have paid (as we always do), the kind of money you would expect to pay to get the finished article. BR 'seems' to be operating no differently to any of our previous managers. Actions speak louder than words and £15m for JA doesn't sound like we've stopped paying over the odds. BR is saying one thing but doing something different. Until his signing set the league on fire they cannot be considered a success or a bargain.

Siggurdson could have been ours for £8m but we paid £15m (after having 2 initial offers turned down) for Joe Allen which was his get out clause fee. Is Joe Allen twice as good? Since when has paying the get out clause fee been a shrewd way to do business? We paid exactly what Swansea wanted, not what we wanted to pay.

Yeah but how do you know they aren't?

Every transfer is a gamble.

At the moment we cant attract the top top players so we are shopping in a limited market.

Other clubs know this and price their players accordingly when we approach them.

I think BR saw Allen as his top priority in the transfer market going by how he spoke about him after he signed.
