Even at his best he's not that good. People are forgetting that more often than not he was a defensive liability. He has 1 good (not brilliant) season and he think's he should be somewhere better. How come he never came out and asked for less money and a transfer to a smaller club when things weren't going his way? No great loss if he goes at all.

Hes not demanding is he, your acting as if he's pointing a gun towards Rodgers.

As soon as Skrtel becomes linked with other clubs, fans now disregard his talent and underrate him. He was showing signs of a solid defender from the 2008-9 season, last season was where he showcased his full potential. If anything the least I would take is 15m, however I would try best to keep him. Agger and Skrtel complement each other really well. Being linked is one thing but asking for Liverpool to agree to negotiate is unacceptable. Nobody is knocking his ability. He's a solid defender but shouldn't be making waves. Did he say he's asked? People are jumping to conclusions here. For all we know, the club could have told him, "Someone's made an offer, but we aren't considering it." I think we're putting words in his mouth.

Exactly, and its not like he's going out and telling everybody he really wants out of the club, he merely said he might consider a switch, but he also said he has welcomed Rodgers appointment, so its not like he's dying at the club.

Spot on redordead!
Also, people who can't actually fathom a decent debate will say YOU ONLY WANT BIG NAMES LIKE XAVI blah blah blah bullsh!t, but if we only go for players like borini and allen and then people like Suarez and Skrtel might think the club is showing a lack of ambition, I'm gonna jump ship. And Liverpool, well we are no longer a team that can say we can replace anyone. Cause we can't. We haven't replaced our better players for the last 5 years. We will slip further and further down the table if we don't arrest the decline by not letting our good players leave.
But like you say redordead, it is an overreaction to what skrtel said. He actually didn't say much. For all we know he just wants a better contract.

And besides all sorts of stuff is written on newspapers, just last week it was 'reported; Skrtel rejected a offer from Man City, because he wants to start a new season with liverpool.

I suspect that he does just want a better contract. His contract talks were mentioned in the article in question.

Skrtel was brilliant last season, rock solid. There is a good balance and understanding between Skrtel and Agger and whenever we were without 1 or the other, we looked shaky at the back. Skrtel also got voted player of the season, so it says something and he captained the side very well on a couple of occasions.
That stood out for me.
Personally, these are 2 players we shouldn't be looking at selling, there are lots more ahead of these 2 that need to be shown the door.
(Luis Suarez is at the top of that list.)
But every player has a price and we might find it difficult to turn down good money for either.

Even Gerrard once considered leaving. Poor argument. Gerrard had at least lifted numerous trophies and earned the right to ask for more commitment from the club regarding building a winning side. Skrtel has put in a few decent performances over a 5 year period and seems it merits him wanting a move?! Wonder where he was in the cup final when Drogba was putting in a man of the match display?! He needs to shut his mouth or he needs to be flogged! I'd like to see both myself! So number of trophies gives him a pass? That's highly hypocritical. You said they should be committed or f*ck off. Gerrard was thinking of leaving when we were among the best of the league, too, and he would have left a much bigger hole to fill. I'm not questioning Gerrard's loyalty. Far from it. I just think holding players to separate standards is unfair and irrational. And he didn't say he wanted a move. He said clubs are interested. He also said he's in contract talks with us to extend his time here. You need to calm down, sir.
