but he did have a good season so i'd be just as happy if he stayed, coates is a decent replacement for skrtel agger would be a bigger loss!!!!

There have been offers. So? He's a good player, and was one of the best defenders in the league last year. Of course he'll have offers. He's uncertain about his future at the club because the club's future is fairly uncertain. Asking a defender of his quality to be content with a rebuilding side is a lot to ask. We aren't one of the best in the league anymore. We can't expect everyone to be dying to play for us and only us. And it's not as though he's saying, "I want out!" Total knee-jerk response.

He is overrated one good season. Come on sell him already!

I like Skrtel, but if someone gives us £20 million for him I would take it in a heartbeat. He was great last season, but there are better or equally-good options out there for that price (or cheaper). And, BR could use that money on a ball-playing defender that more easily fits into his system. I'm thinking Yanga-Mbiwa from Montpelier, Sakho from PSG (who looks like he'll move on after they brought in T. Silva), Kjaer from Wolfburg, Coloccini, or Inigo Martinez from Sociedad. I'd even be OK with Ashley Williams. Like I said, there are a lot of good central defenders out there.

A few years ago, I would totally agree with you. Maybe in a few more I will again. But we aren't at that level right now. Sorry, but we aren't among Europe's elite right now. Replacing him would be difficult, and partnerships like the one he has with Agger are difficult to nurture. Unless someone offers crazy money, we need to do everything we can to convince him to stay. Even Gerrard once considered leaving.

Anything more than £15 million and I would take it.

Poor argument. Gerrard had at least lifted numerous trophies and earned the right to ask for more commitment from the club regarding building a winning side. Skrtel has put in a few decent performances over a 5 year period and seems it merits him wanting a move?! Wonder where he was in the cup final when Drogba was putting in a man of the match display?! He needs to shut his mouth or he needs to be flogged! I'd like to see both myself!
