I was reading the interview that Rodgers gave and said it was an "immense" challenge and we are far away from being a force again. I think this is just to calm fans down and to keep expectations low. But, I still think we are good enough to finish minimum 4th. The title depends on our start because if we win our first 5, which includes City, Arsenal and United, then we'll breed confidence and have a genuine chance.

Lol I'm not saying we're challenging for title outright, but we can challenge by stealth. After all, we have the same squad plus others coming back as last season and we were contenders for fourth. I think we'll get 4th, but once again, no harm in aiming high.

Gotta hit the ground running and stay consistent all season.

Also, the players all have to group together for the manager, in order for the philosophy to work. If it does and they all eat out of his hand, the football he wants to play will beam of confidence and creativity. If all goes to plan, I cant see why not top 4 is achievable.

I was thinking earlier, (and its one thing we must all take into account) even if we play the supreme Barca quality football tomorrow, overnight, and play it all season long, we play in a very different league to La Liga, there is more than just 2 teams and secondly, overall, the league is a lot better and increasingly more competitive.

4th is a pipedream. Arsenal & Chelsea were already streets ahead of us and they've been busy making thelselves stronger again. We'd need to spend at least £50m to catch up to the level they were at last year, and then more again if we're to overtake them. There's also 3 other teams that we need to peg back before we even think about the champions league. Can't see 4th place happening, not for a long time.

Forget talk of the league for now, let's see how we're doing and save that for the new year.

One thing I do agree with though is the confidence thing - amazing what a good run can do for moral, even teams playing [oops] but winning oooooooze confidence.

Up until the Arsenal game we were in with a chance of 4th, after that game it was downhill while Kenny concentrated on the Cups.

We needed a striker in January when Suarez was suspended but the board decided against it and it cost us big.

Last season all the top 4 dropped lots of points and we had a very good chance of finishing Top 4.

God I admire your optimism....

4th i think is certainly something to aim for but i don't think its a gimme by a long way
