Let the person who wants to support a team do that in silence. No need for rating the support as a variable depending on the mileage between the team of support and where you live.

Who cares about that? Besides you that is!
No probs I will leave it there then and wont ask again, it's pretty obvious what the answer is and confirmed what I thought in the first place. lets move on now.

Does he support Ireland as his first team? No supporting countries and clubs are very different things. I might like the Spanish team but I can't speak on behalf of Spanish people and know how certain things affect them. I can however do so with Liverpool because I can understand the mood more as I feel the same as any Liverpool fan. I like your attempts to subtly have an OOT argument but once again clubs and country are two completely different things

No problem at all with your comments, I totaly disagree, both country and Club are the same in my book as both represent who you are not who you choose to support, anyway might as well leave it there and agree to disagree a forum is all about opinions.

Some opinions just happen to bigoted and disrespectful to most fans. You are only born in one country you don't choose that. You chose to support Liverpool albeit presumably with several important influences but you could as easily have supported everton or whoever. That is the difference between club and country

So, why do people from my neck of the woods listen to blues music that's from Tennessee? They aren't from that time, and might have trouble truly understanding it.

Look its perfectly fine to disagree with my opinions, its a forum and thats whats supposed to happen. I think anyone who does'nt think identity is important to some people is just burying there heads in the sand. People use a country to identify themselves, people use football Clubs, Associations, memberships, political party identity e.t.c. so you see identity wether people like it or not is still something which is important to people, if you are calling people who believe in it socialy inept you are talking about a huge, huge number of people.
