Where do you get this from? If there is one thing good to come from Houllier/Benny, it is our youth setup. At least pay attention to things other than the first team b4 making such statements.

Our youth facilities is one of the best but if it was regularly producing players for the first team. Why did Rafa feel the need to re-invent the way it does things?

It is simple. We need more coming through. One or two regular bench warmers does not mean that we have an excellent youngster factory.

sorry but that's not how it works - players like gerrard become great because they are given a chance in the first team ...... whether that's because of injuries or because the team is weak, they still need to be given a chance to improve ...... look at city with players like ireland - he was not a good player to start with, in fact he was awful first off ..... now look at him! one of the best central midfielders in the prem - he has improved because he was given games, like micah richards, nedum onouha etc - none of which were as good in the youth teams as players we had available - only difference was they got a chance because city needed numbers and had to take a chance on kids

sorry but you are wrong - lots of other things can hold back a kid that COULD be great ..... for starters stevie g was lucky that houllier came in looking to make his mark just as he was emerging ..... if he had been breaking through under rafa he would have only played in last week's dead rubber (like pacheco who has been rated just as highly by the same back room staff that produced gerrard) then dropped back into the stiffs to never get another game

houllier had always built his reputation on bringing through kids - he came into liverpool looking to find kids for the first team to enhance his rep ...... rafa came here wanting to prove he is a master tactician - and people still seem to think he is despite his tactics failing us constantly game after game

u don't have to be a new stevie g to be given a chance....one thing i liked about houllier was that he had the guts to give young players a chance...i'm not so sure rafa would have given stevie the same chance...

players such as gibson and rodwell are being given games now and villa have done it over the years with agbonlahor and ashley young...if rafa put some trust in our youngsters i'm sure we can produce some very good players as well.

not true at all - stevie g was very lucky - houllier listened to the coaching staff and moved him up to the first team squad to take a look at him ..... heighway has been championing people like kelly for years yet not one of them was given a chance ...... don't even try and tell me kelly isn't good enough!!! why did he get his chance? luck because every single other right back at the club was out injured .... then he suffered bad luck by getting injured and so darby got the next possible chance in the team ..... who knows if kelly will ever get a chance for a run in the team? yet that lad is without a single doubt good enough

then there is pacheco - good enough without a doubt, but he is short so struggles to get a game coz we are told he is not strong enough ...... then there is the way we play with one up front leaving no space for the lad to get a run in the team, especially when you consider how unlucky he is to have a player like stevie g ahead of him in the position he would most likely occupy in the team ...... does that mean he is not good enough? no it means he is unlucky and might never make it here because of that

its not all about talent

*sighs* you are still not listening - i really couldn't give a rat's arse about a player making it elsewhere - i am talking about how we get our good young players to come through and improve

how we produce players that are good enough for OUR team, not ones that will bugger off and make it elsewhere

you obviously are not
