The big question Alcohol and football. Now I love a drink I really do, lovely foaming beer I just looking at it never mind drinking it. One of lives pleasures to be sure.

However

I have never been one to drink much while watching a match or before. I know some lads who go to the game at Anfield and have 5 pints before the game and watch the match in a haze and going to the toilet ever 20 minutes. I can’t see the point of that. One exception big European finals when you are abroad with the crowds and flags you would have to be a saint not to have a beer. That said because of flight delays we could not drink before (or after) the final at the Ataturk and I am so grateful I saw Liverpool’s greatest ever game totally sober. Like England this evening its coffee for me rather than cans of beer I would rather know what’s going on.

But is a difficult one going to the pub you get the atmosphere

Live is full of these tough decisions.

If I was going to watch a match at Anfield, I'd drink beer, becasue lets face it, the coffee in England is horrible and I'd rather not touch the shitt!

I think Ive gotten older the thought of going to the pub during the week with work the next day makes me feel ill.

I cant handle working with even the slightest of hangovers.

I see your point there Stan and I too refrain from drinking before any game I attend at Anfield, even given the amount of grief I get off my scouse pals in Liverpool!

This all stemmed from a bad experience at one of my first games v Leeds many years ago, and I made the decision back then

Certainly watching a game in Anfield in a haze is not good imo, and found games more exciting to watch without the effects of beer!

Hit the bottle straight after though! grin

True stanley , the beers are for the big nights for example for those lucky to go to istanbul in 2005.
Depends on age and on the age in which one lives. When i was younger I had to go out to the pub to watch a premiership match so I was used to having beers with the match. Tended and still do have one beer per half! Coffee is good after as murph said if its week night hard to go on the rampage after a good result.
Agree its a tricky science beer vs coffee. I have both lately

This is what I usually eat during a game actually, I don't drink either. Coke and Pizza are a nice combo.
