No one knows if he can succeed at LFC but for heavens sake guys comparing him to downing is completely insane the guy has pace, speed, and really nice shots he scores so often even when he is a sub at city, I recall the first day of downing if u guys remmeber Dalglish said that downing will create chances for Caroll and downing's father said that my son's crosses will help Caroll shine and score many goals so everyone should have realized that the main reason for downing's signing last season was to enhance caroll's role and create chances for him "which was completely meant to be by crosses". A.Johnson's situation is completely different the guy can pass 1-2 defenders and either shoot or pass the ball which will really help in our new system, "the guy is a real talent, underrated, and is really wasted at city's bench", cant blame our fans being scared of getting another downing into the team cuz really downing's failure is a MASSIVE one and cant be forgotten easily by fans.

Sorry forgot to mention a point : unlike downing A.Johnson can keep the ball and has nice control on the ball which will contribute in the improvment of our style of play which relies heavily on keeping possession on the ball unlike downing who is sure to loose the ball whenever he has it.

sure u have a point but the main difference is that downing was meant only to be a classic wide man and last summer i read an article which had a qoute "16m pound is still too much for the one-trick pony" so even when he joined us the only ability he possessed was accurate crosses while AJ has dribbling skills and vision for the goal.

Johnson will want in excess of £60k a week because that is what would have come along with his price tag at Citeh when he signed for them.

Is it really worth splashing out all those wages on what would probably be a 4 year contract and a transfer fee of £15m+

To be fair not many sides would pay that sort of money. Not many could even if they wanted to. Nobody else will be in for him at that price so why go in with a silly bid over £15m? If they want rid of him offer them £7m on transfer deadline day or take him on a season long loan like Spurs did with Adebayor. This is the business sside of the game. It would free up the funds for other targets.

ya the last day bid succeds but who can gaurantee us that we will get him at the last day and he doesnt recieve offers from other teams such as newcastle or sunderland, so we should really keep a close eye on him and know when to strike, and if u were talking about high wages then have a look at joe cole 90K a week and what has he done so farr : NOTHING

Yep absolutely right about Cole. I think if there is one good thing going forward it is that we need to get away from these sky high wages and once Gerrard is out of the frame the bar gets that bit lower.
As for the Newcastle/Sunderland thing not sure if a former Boro boy would always go down well up there especially for that amount of money.
This is a business. A few more need to be shipped out and to be honest I can see Cole going back to London with West Ham or QPR.

i cant believe there are so many of you not wanting us to sign Johnson.hes a top quality player.if he was struggling to get into a mid table side i could see your point, but he's not a regular in a side that has spent millions upon millions building a prem winning side.he's young he's hungary and he has the talent to become a real star if he is given the right chance.i hope we give it to him.
personaly if we only signed him and siggurdson this summer i would be happy.

I like Johnson, but you can't really compare playing for Man City when games are being dominated, and playing for a struggling Liverpool with a clueless manager. I'd like to see Downing playing under a successful Liverpool and good manager, and Johnson playing under a less dominant side than Man City before we can say for sure.

Gud point.

A.Johnson is good but his price is about 16m

same range of players like Eriksen and Gaston Ramirez

wouldn't you rather have one of them?
