Whilst there is still a waiting list and a waiting list to go on the waiting list and so on.... there will always be 40000 plus at Anfield. So in a supply and demand world the supplier can name the price. It borders on robbery but if you want to be involved and take on the experience you pay the money.

Having paid the money you then get the right to moan about results or the way you are entertained but it will not get you anywhere whilst there are 40000 more ready to take your place if you decide to drop out of the system.

I don't think there will always be others waiting to take your place. Look at Man Utd you can pick up a season ticket anytime you like the club are advertising begging for people to take them up. The waiting list at Liverpool might exist now but believe me its built on sand. Not many people are around who would want to pay nearly £1,000 to watch 8th place. Other clubs of a similar stature like Everton are half our price. I only go to the games today for social reasons and that wont last much longer.

I agree Stanley, those waiting list numbers are false, when these people actualy get the chance to part with best part of a grand it's a totaly different scenario. I see Sir Alex has even done a message to get people to buy United season tickets, he goes on about United are the most exciting, value for money Club in the country to watch and win lose or draw fans are always on the edge of there seat when they watch them play, he then uses last season and how they were pipped by City as proof of the excitement. If United are struggling to shift tickets theres nothin down for the rest of us, this is a reason why I dont think a new stadium is not the rite way forward in this climate.

Agree with that there lads. The brother put himself and his new born son on the list over 8 years ago. He was notified there last year if he wanted to stay on the list - he opted to do that and paid £5 per person, just to see what happened.....even at that point he was in the catagory 30,000+ on the waiting list....after 7+ years.

Anyway, I was speaking to the brother as recently as the weekend gone, and to your point, he says he would not part with £1000. Going back and forth would be costly.

Over the last few years we have gained the trust of a local source who has access to 20+ season tickets, plus countless more sources within the anfield hierarchy to get their hands on tickets when we need them.
We help out the season ticket holder by paying £10 more then the actual price of a ticket and we certainly don't mind paying more even if it is to sit through an absolute shocker of a game like the one v Stoke back in January, Christ my heart ached on that cold day!

few more seasons of no champions league footy will soon stop the 40,000 coming believe me, no champions league footy will mean no more 20 million pound players on 80k a week in wages, this means less of a chance of winning trophies or ever playing in the Champions League and given the main reason our fans chose to support the Club in the first place was because of success and glory it will certainly have a knock on effect as they wont be as loyal through the bad times and wont turn up in the numbers.

Possibly true but we have been banging on about this sort of thing for years in the same way that we have been banging on about football clubs going out of business altogether. The thing is that at the end of the day the only one who has done that was Maidstone United. Everyone else survives. Even Portsmouth and Rangers will survive.

Whilst a viable product remains (even though last season the home matches were certainly not that)people will part with their hard earned to get the chance of being there.

There is a massive difference between your Maidstones, Rangers and Portmouths when you compare them to United and Liverpool and thats because those Clubs support is based on loyalty and supporting the team for the correct reason you should support a team, through thick and thin, mostly thin. Liverpool and United are built on rotten foundations because the only reason fans support these two clubs is because of fame, fortune, glamour and success unless you come from the City and dont have a choice, so if these two clubs dont sustain that the loyalty wont be there in the same way as it is for the Rangers and Portsmouths of this world, you only have to look at Liverpools season ticket waiting list to see what has happend because of lean years so a few more trophyless or seasons out of the top four and we wont be able to fill our current ground, you can see the demand for Liverpool tickets is'nt the same even now.

you paint a very black picture and I understand where you are coming from. There needs to be a levelling no doubt but I think there will always be those who want to attend and I know fans who left when it became all seater spouting similar doom and gloom stories.

The stadia now are better than ever and improving, tough financial constraints will not be here forever and fans will return, others will pick up the mantle as has always been the case. The reality is the situation looks worse than it is. Clubs will have to reduce players wages, transfer fees and ultimately ticket prices will fall. It would be good for the all round game anyway.

I would love to attend and there was a time when I got into ballots for tickets and got them on several occasions via the official club website. But once it became a fee paying thing to earn the right to enter I did give up.

But that is more because of the other costs such as travelling. Work does not help either. I know lots of people who would love to go but can only get two tickets. They then have to split the cost of fuel to get there which comes to over £25 each.

If tickets were freely available there would be even more looking to go. People have to jump through rings of fire to get tickets and this puts people off. Yet there are still people who will pick up the mantle as cp1972 says.

The state of the economy is still absolutely shyte yet we are still filling the ground.

As someone who is not a local I don't hear these bits of news. But people who like football are still going to see their local teams despite rising costs. In league two you can walk up and pay on the day and you pay £18 for that. I can remember when it was £1.10. £18 is a lot of money to pay for a product that poor so to pay £40 to see some of the best players in the world still represents good value.

I would love to see a day come when the players get paid realistic wages but I think that time will never come despite the goings on at Rangers and Portsmouth.

Liverpool and United fans wont turn up if the teams go through a sustained period of mediocrity, last few seasons we have finished outside the top 6 and I bet if we are still outside the top 6 in another 5 years our average attendence will be around the 35,000 mark, United would be similar, they already struggle to sell out as it is and they have success.

i think anybody who has a season ticket and sells the thing for more that face value should be horse whipped on the pitch as the half time entertainment
