As an outsider looking in I think Hodgson was loathed to take both Terry and Ferdinand because of their age and recent troubles with injuries.

He made his choice and plumped for Terry. I think if it had been Terry and not Cahill forced out then we may have seen Ferdinand called up instead.

Lets take the fact that Ferdinand plays for United out of the picture because the lad is one of the most gifted central defenders England have produced for a long time and its a real shame that Terry's thugish style and Hodgson preference for his central defenders to hoof the ball clear have taken preference to Ferdinands ball playing skills.

Ha ha. These me thinking Liverpool supporters well gifted on seeing good footballers. Rio is a top defender and even though he has had injury problems he still help (a lot) with man u coming 2nd in league. Only Thing Terry done was nearly help Barc get into the final.

Hatered for Man U should not cloud your judgement on why RH didn't pick Rio the only reason was NOT a football one.

There are many reasons to not want terry in the squad

Ferdinands behaviou is similar to that of roy keane for te ireland squad and that had dire consequences for irelands team at the world cup. Ban him
