i have developed a rather robust hatred of northern irish people, be they southies or northies. so will have to be ever the more kind to brendan. Nice! Good to see this forum all about the football!

Welcome Brendan. Happy that a fellow Irish man- Northern Irish man is set to become manager of LFC. The country of Ireland doing us proud in the sporting arena. Darren Clarke, Rory Mc Ilroy, Graham Mc Dowell, George Best, Norman Whiteside, Barry Mc Guigan, Dennis Taylor, Harry Gregg, etc etc etc (could go on all night)!. Think Northern Ireland has a lot to show for itself regardless of some comments posted on this thread! YNWA ooooOOOOOOooooo!  tbhi was trying to give credit to the north rather than steal the limelight but whatever. couldnt give a shiit about northern ireland to be honest. well its a different country for a start, with a different league and a different national team, plus it operates under british government. not exactly picky is it. we cant claim him in the republic if he had nothing to do with our football system. Would you say Chuculainn was Irish flames? He also came from that part of Ireland and all irish people claim him as Irish. Would you ever be trying to stir things up a bit flames?

A lot of people dont want to realise or forget that many people in the republic especially since the european union post 80s want nothing to do with the north. don't mean to sound patronising but i was amazed that many don't have a clue what is going on there; or do have a clue and are not interested.
Aside from the economic cost of governing northern ireland there is a bit of apathy towords it from the people. I know lots of people catholic and protestant from the north as well as people from the republic and although they have a lot in common they also have very different attitudes and lifestyles

When I was growing up we were advised by all and sundry that the art of good polite conversation was to avoid discussing politics or religion and you know Armi, the longer I live the more I begin to understand the wisdom in that advice.
