The DoF position has a lot of stigma attached to it.

I feel we'll still get a Sporting Director / Techinical Director.

read somewhere today that Van Gaal would be Sporting Director and Pep Segura the Technical Director. Sounds like a good combination.

The following is based on actual events. Only the names, locations and events have been changed.

i have read conflicting reports

1) no DOF, rodgers to have full control
2) rodgers to work under a DOF

apparently our first choice roberto turned us down because he wanted full control, hence rodgers has got the job. but if rodgers has got the job with full control, why didnt roberto get the job with full control if that was his main issue? i think that we have got our first choice who will work under a DOF, no idea who that will be though. one thing is for sure though, i think the players we will sign, will be proper footballers who want to play for Liverpool and will put in that extra bit of commitment, just like the Newcastle players have done this season. not just sign and be happy to sit on a bench.

FSG lookin' for 3 candidates to control above BR.
Liverpool’s groundbreaking plan is to employ one executive to oversee statistics, another whose role will be to conduct negotiations and a third ‘football man’ with contacts within the game.

FSG has already interviewed four candidates to take on the duties, with current Head of Analytics Michael Edwards set for a promotion to take charge of the ‘Moneyball’ concept of finding value in the transfer market based on statistics. Edwards was previously a performance analyst at Tottenham and Portsmouth.

Louis van Gaal remains the outstanding candidate to take on the more traditional sporting director duties given his wealth of experience, his knowledge of players and his worldwide contacts.

i put a post on here earlier today about moneyball, i think there experimenting with a new set up, just hope it doesnt backfire at our expense. i didnt originally like the idea of a DoF, but i remember hearing aldo i think on the radio saying about someone needs to be independent telling kenny what they think. it was on about the fact he needed to drop hendo and a few other sooner than he did for his own good. a different set of eyes can help with seeing the wood for the trees so to say.

According to the Guardian Pep Segura is to be promoted, DOF maybe? I don't see the problem with having a DOF if the guidelines are clear..
