Martinez really wants this job for his own trophy filled career, with a tear in his eye he said to Dave Whelan "It's time Dave...." and on that day he departed Wigan Athletic and jumped on a flight to Boston to give BJ's and a wink to all involved.

The writing was on the wall, the ultimate yes man on a 5 year contract....it don't even matter if we get relegated as long as Roberto smiles and says yes to FSG.

look lads he might be right. dont rule it out. we need to have our eyes open here. we are still a club in a very vulnerable state and at a cross roads. if martinez and fsg were to fck this up our reputation and standing could be damaged irreparably for a long time.

chelsea had a lot of money, and they have also gone through all top managers. not hodgson to dalglish to martinez. we are faltering if we hire him, and we will be in serious trouble when we do.

Criticize me all you want!

Listen guys, FSG have got advisers, that tells me for one, they don't really have a clue, thats why they are welcoming the outside expertise of people "that do"....instead of grabbing the bull by the horns and taking control over the club/franchise you bought.

I ain't seeing any of that and I ain't seen it since they've been here. They sacked Kenny on the advice of this "think tank"....they sacked Comolli on the advice of this "think tank"....these are major decisions at a football club, and they are taken them based on what somebody on the outside recommends.

No doubt this think tank will also be recommending Martinez, because he is PC and ticks all of FSG's boxes.

If they do give Martinez the job, over Villas Boas and over Rafa, then they are clearly trying to manage the expectations of us and taking us for mugs. Martinez is not the smartest option, neither is he the most proven or successful, I mean Villa want him.....a mid table team.....

It appears also FSG are being told to stay clear of Rafa.

Please prove to me thy "have got a clue"...and I may take my words back.

It remains, and lets be honest, they aint doing to good in Boston with the Red Sox at the moment either, they sacked a popular manager there to, who I believe won them the big one.

I don't like the think tank either, they're basing there decisions on a small group of people, which are supposedly 'experts' that sort of thing worrys me, I don't want our clubs owners to be controlled by a small group of people that could have alternative motives

OK - what about Wenger, Mourinho, AVB, RDM... all humble beginnings before winning big trophies with a new club.
Its true that everyone has to start somewhere but martinez has already had his start and to be honest he hasnt lit the world on fire.. all the coaches you mention did great things at their previous clubs before moving on to bigger clubs..martinez hasnt won anything major or even came close to it in a top league as a coach..atleast i dont think he has! and yet he is being paraded around as the coach to take us forward!! if its out of the two i go benitez.. but who knows martinez may just prove us all wrong!

I would give general manager Theo Epstein a lot more credit for winning Boston two World Series than Terry Francona. Major League Baseball managers aren't nearly as valuable to their team's success as a football manager is. He was also the manager of a team that endured one of the worst September collapses in baseball history. They started the month almost a sure-shot playoff team and they didn't make the postseason. He either lost control of the club or didn't know what was going on, which was good enough reason why he wasn't retained. The players were drinking beer in the clubhouse, ordering wings and pizza....DURING GAMES.

Technically, Francona wasn't sacked. 2012 was an option year on his contract and they chose not to exercise that option. They were contractually obligated to him through 2011.

It aint spec though proph, and it aint this media drivel you keep banging on about either.

Ian Ayre came out and said FSG were being consulted by this thing in making there decisions.

Straight from the horses mouth. Open your eyes man.

Believe me, I know media drivel when I see it.
