Why do so many fans hate on Rafa? He was the most successful manager since Dalglish in the 80's. His teams broke numerous records and his eye for top talent (not budget buys)is second to none! He brought us so many memorable nights and yet he is hated by many! Why? I'm confused!

I think its because he could and should have got us to the top. Just his cautious, negative streak , coldness and ego instead turned us into a mess. a mess that we are still trying to get out of today.plus he wasted a lot of cash, did zonal marking, rotation policy etc. lots of reasons he isn't wanted back, the most important being the sense of deadness in his last seasons.

One box FSG will want ticked will be the new manager should not under any circumstances create newspaper headlines or press suicide. So you can count Rafa out for that reason alone.

He started very well and there was progress until we came second in the league. Afer that it just went from bad to worse (even before he was no longer supported by H&G). Don't you remember undue rotations, zonal marking, out of the premiership race in Jan, out of the early rounds of the cups, Dossena replacing Riise, not recruiting a proper winger ever, making Alonso know that he was not wanted, replacing Alonso with an injured Aquilani when he could have taken Robben and/or Van Der Vaart, not trying anybody from the academy in the first team. For me he is a good manager but not great as some people believe, I was really convinced following his spell at Inter, Leonardo did much much better after he took over from Rafa even if some people think that Jose left a bad and ageing team (I do not agree as that Inter team was one of the best in Europe for at least one more year). Do not want to re-live Rafa's last couple of years, he had his chance and we stopped improving under him.

I don't hate him but I was glad to see the back of him. His tactics were always don't lose at any cost. Boring, negative defensive garbage. I watch football to be entertained, not be sent off to sleep.
He had his go, did sort of OK for a while, then lost the plot. Can't blame it all on the owners either. Rafa's ego was the main problem.
However, having said all that, I'd rather have him back than take one of the relegation dodgers we've been linked with this week.

No hate but failed towards the end with us and failed at inter Milan. Plus would rather try a different manager to freshen things up

There is a saying n the media world that "No news is bad news". Anything that gets you in the press and gets you talk about is exposure, and free exposure at that. So I don't agree with your statement there. Obviously they would rather be in the press with good headlines than bad ones.
