I think Whelan is a complete tw!t for making this public. If Martinez doesn't get the job it makes his manager look like an idiot.

have to admit whelan is the the one chairman I cannot stand, always wants to be on the tv doing interviews.
Thinks someone cares about him or his opinions.

Think that's harsh on him! He picks and backs his managers to the end! He is well aware they are smallest club wit smallest fan base and budget , yet they continually defy odds and stay up! If Martinez doesn't get job Whelan will be delighted and if he does he will b gutted and wish him well all the same! Chairmen like him seem few and fair between nowadays and least he comes out am lets his fans no his plans and opinions ! Something we can only dream of at moment

I know, but their have been a couple of comments that he has said (nothing to do with today) that don't sit well with me.

If this man is offered and takes the job this will be the death of the club Ive loved for 40 years. The owners want the "best" they want to take us back to being "elite" so why interview a manager who has not even finished in the top half of the table with NO European experience?? WHY?? WHY?? I AM SO ANGRY AND UPSET MY BLOOD IS BOILING, OH MY WORD ROBERTO MARTINEZ TO TRY AND GET LIVERPOOL TO FINISH TOP 4!! ITS LAUGHABLE!!! WE`LL FINISH BOTTOM 4 WITH HIM IN CHARGE!! FSG Warner and Henry you should be ashamed off yourselves and get out of our club!

I think its the safe choice at the moment, would be a brave move by FSG but I think he may fit well if the intention is to bring a DoF to work alongside him. Big managers like Rafa would not want a DoF hanging around their head. I like Martinez, I like how he handles the media, he is very humble and honest about these things, I think we really need someone like that because we are hated by the media. He is a good up and coming manager that may succeed here if given the chance to implement his philosophy so I have no problem with him being appointed.
