Martinez is just the first interview... not sure why everyone is so decided it's gonna be him.
I can see the attraction of Martinez as a "moneyball" type candidate. Low profile but up and coming - probably fairly cheap as managers go too. Good recruitment at Wigan - attractive football at times, etc. But quite simply - he's just too big of a risk. He'd be hounded out in 6 months - he would not get time for the learning curve at a bigger club.
Unless we get a world class manager - a big name - there was no point in sacking Kenny after one season.
i agree, its a massive risk. i can't help but feel like these are worrying times at lfc. its so weird how the tables have turned. all you kenny bashers / dormers & gloomers must have felt like i do now when kenny was in charge.
by FSG's standards will they sack the new manager if he doesn't make fourth next year? id rather have a cup than not make fourth personally, and kenny nearly got us 2.
can't help but feel as though this was totally the wrong time to appoint a new manager and i hope this does not come back to haunt the owners. its bang out of order for them to announce kenny has been sacked rather than that of mutual consent or resignation. the fact they called him all the way over to boston just to sack him is terrible... then have the cheek to send him home with jet lag and his P45.
the owners have talked about bringing back 'the liverpool way' time and time again, but i can't help but feel that is being tarnished by their own agenda. sacking a manager after one year with 2 finals and a trophy is far from the liverpool way.
face it, we are being run by business people and not football people. their decisions could come back to haunt them imo
