The Chelsea debacle aside, I think AVB would be a good fit for us.

He flopped at Chelsea. No doubting that. But with that aging squad and massive egos that was always likely to end in failure.

Our team is a better fit for him. A platform his (supposed upper status) stature deserves and when all is said and done, his footie philosophy is attractive attacking football.

Sceptical aboutthe highline style of defending but that could work with quickish players like Skrtel, Agger and the pacey Johnson and Enrique.

Plus... I reckon he would have good pull with a lot of top players.

Falcao anyone?

That would be an amazing proposition and is conceivable cos we can afford that level of player and he can be sold the idea of growing with the project as a younger Torres was with Rafa.

Thoughts guys?

"Falcao anyone?"

There is obviously no one on this forum that would object to that however it is on the same scale as saying, "Hazard anyone". No chance of players of this calibre going to a mid-table club.

However I respect your view on AVB, could be a good call. Big risk though

I'm really not sure about him. His managerial history comprises of 1 solitary decent season.....at a club that usually wins their league regardless of who is in charge.
The rest of his managerial career has been pretty disappointing. Do we know enough about him to put him in charge of our future?

I hear you Woolsey, but........

I think sometimes we are all to close to LFC and the situation to see how massive we STILL are.

We are one of only two teams from England that are WORLD Brands!

Us and United. No-one else comes close. Falcao isn't at a top team. Nor is Cavani. They are at teams considerably smaller than us. Teams like Napoli and Atletico Madrid can only ever get to the level they are at now in terms of size and stature.

With a re-jig and some investment we can rise from the level we have dropped to (Napoli and A. Madrid Euopa League level) and reach back towards loftier levels/standards!

Just my opinion but we are not in as bad a state as many think.

KD just lost the plot cos he bought the wrong players and spent too much on those wrong players!

Avoid those mistakes and we can comfortably rise again. Especially as our amin contenders next year will have Champs League distractions, which will sap them during their season (as Spurs always crumble!) and I really think its the end for Arsenal cos no way is RVP staying there at 29 years of age and his contract ending).

The path is clear now.

Let's take it!

This.

He managed for a season and then went to Chelsea. One solitary season under his belt as a professional manager. Big no thanks, overrated and over hyped.

We'd have a lot more chance of getting Hulk I think. Falcao left Porto before it was announced that AVB had left (I believe, I could be wrong) and has had an exceptional season in Madrid. If he leaves, it would only to be a top club.
Hulk is still at Porto and his season wasn't up to that he had under AVB. I think he would relish the opportunity to work under him again. I won't be upset at all if Andre is named as the new manager. He still has a lot to prove but for me, he'd be a lot better than Kenny (tactically) and Martinez would be.

BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS - when he was only 21 hahahah
ACEDEMICA - who was in relegation when he began, apparently changed their style and they finished 11th
PORTO - Undefeated in league, treble winning season.
youngest ever manager to win a European competetion
CHELSEA - May of flopped but got better points per game than RDM

Fair enough but you would have to expect the likes of Cavani, Falcao etc to go to clubs that are in the Champions League. Players don't really care about how big a club nowadays - players care about winning major trophies and money!

We are a top club!!!

that is my point about Falcao.

Just because we missed Camps League the margins aren't that big.

Falcao recruited equals 25-30+ goals if he gets off to a decent/good start. Coupled with a few good signings and we are right back up there for Champs League especially as I can't see Tottenham improving (Hit their ceiling in my opinion) and Arsenal will surely lose RVP!

not sure why we'd sack an under-performing manager for someone that performed as badly or if not worse with arguably better players.

Feel similarly about martinez who credit to had wigan playing well for last 8 games of season but were cat for first 32.
If we cant get someone proven like hiddink, Ancelotti, Capello, even Benitez, then I would fear we will be in the same position in 12-18 months time
