Just thought I'd crunch the numbers and see if they could prove 1 way or another whether kenny is improving LFC or not:

In 2010/11 he was in charge for 16 games and averaged 1.937 points per game. This season that would have given us 3rd place. Last season (had he been in charge for the full season) it would have made us premier league runners up. Granted, teams generally do overperform temporarily under a new manager but those stats justified FSG giving Kenny the job on a fulltime basis. No arguments there - I'd probably have done the same thing.

However, achieving 2nd or 3rd place (pro-rata) without spending a penny means that FSG had every right to expect us to finish 4th as a bare minimum and that's without taking into consideration any spending that they allowed Kenny to do.

This year, after spending club record amounts of money Kenny has pulled in an average of 1.368 points per game resulting in our worst league campaign for over 50 years.
We finished 17 points from 4th (last season we were 10 points from 4th)
We finished 37 points from the top (last season we finished 22 points from the top).

No matter which way you look at it, Kenny has made us much less competitive in the league and cost the club a fortune in doing so. When you consider that Hodgson did a pretty poor job for us, bringing our average points per game down last season, it makes this seasons comparisons even more damning of Kenny.

To be honest, before I started this post I didn't think it was quite as bad as first thought. I can't see any justification now for kenny to stay at the club another day and I am convinced that FSG, being red-hot on numbers and stats, will come to the same conclusions.

I support the club 100% and will support the next manager 100% providing he moves us forward, doesn't insulting the fans and doesn't embarass himself/the club in interviews. I have no suggestions on who will replace Kenny but the majority of names mentioned excite me. I'd take more or less anyone over KD at the moment. I won't waste my time mentioning possible candidates as the kenny flag bearers will find an excuse to ridicule reagrdless of who it is. They'll probably even find fault with the above stats and try to create some positive spin!!

I wouldn't have gave Kenny the job even as interim it was set up for putting us in the situation we are now in. That is us having a completely unsuitable and unqualified man for the role held their by loyality from what he did as a player in the 70's. I believe the uplift when he was inerim was a false picture and what he did was right the massive underperforming under Hodgson by virtue of who he is. It motivated the players for a short spell and gave the illusion of a man who knew what he was doing.

But then inevitably Kenny's failings came to the fore as they always do (look at his career). Giving him £114m was insane and we now see the result.

I see after the Swansea game Kenny threw one of his customary tantrums after reporters asked him about his future. That's stress and shows a man not confident of himself or his ability. As I have said before though Liverpool's problems run far deeper than just the manager and FSG have a lot of work to do this summer. The club is falling apart every bit as g&h and I know you don't want to hear tht but it is. The only difference is FSG have marginally more money and can finance the loan. But that is not enpough to right what needs to be done at Liverpool FC.

Completetly agree with you sp.

I have read today another part of the interview with Kenny where he basically stated that we need more luck which he hopes we'll get next season.

I was at the game yesterday and I thought we played poorly and didnt look like scoring apart from 1 overhead effort from Carroll. He was also lucky he didnt get sent off.At half time Sterling was warming up and I was really hoping to see Kenny give him the 2nd half but nothing. The best part of the day was hearing that City had scored a late winner.

From what i've seen this season I cant remember a worse squad or team in my 30 years of watching them and if he remains in charge I am dreading next season

We simply can't have another season like this. Were already having to chose from the 2nd tier, were lucky to have Steven Gerrard, Luis Suarez, Pepe Reina and the likes in our ranks and they won't be here forever. It's just a question of what sort of team is left behind when Gerrard retires.
