I read in the Liverpool Echo today that the chief executive of the 2018 bid, Andy Anson, said that he had spoken to Purslow about our new stadium being part of the bid proposal.

He said that we have a very convincing bid to be part of the world cup proposal and that we are "Very optimistic that funding for the new stadium is around the corner".
Could we see spades in the ground shortly? Dunk, have you heard any talk about funding being sorted out soon?

I hope we really are just about to take a corner that will see the start of our new stadium.

I'm trying to hang onto anything optomistic I can find at the moment with all the doom and gloom going around.

I won't be holding my breath though for this development.

if the world cup bid gets the go-ahead the money will be there for a new stadium - i have heard that is why the yanks are hanging on - the club's value increases massively with a new stadium

We need a new stadium desperately! All the talk around the new stadium points to increased revenue.

On the other hand, will increased revenue mean more funds to spend on transfers? We had funds left over from the summer dealings and that wasn't made available.

If the Yanks are just here to line their pockets will they ever make large amounts of funds available?

i doubt they ever will to be honest - all they will do is pocket huge amounts of money if it all goes well - if it goes badly they will sell up and make huge amounts of money ....... they are in a win win situation really

I understand were your coming from Trepie, but the World Cup is 8/9 years away & a stadium can be built in 2.
