I disagree. We don't need him for anything but DM. Not worth the extra money. Dempsey is a good finisher, and a proven and consistent goal scorer.
I think that striker rotation (with the implementation of Dempsey who plays well at striker for the US if necessary) will be fine. Carroll is hitting form, and if he and Suarez get the proper midfield support they will score plenty of goals. De Jong can be our quick fox in the box when need be.
I do wonder if Aqua and Cole deserve a chance, since most agree that we could have used them this year. To be honest, I think the LFC ship has sailed for both of them - especially Aquilani. I'd be very shocked to see the summer transfer window close with either of them still at the club.

My opinion on the current squad is that we need about 4/5 fresh new signings but need to release, sell or loan out several more... RELEASE- Brad Jones & Aurelio...
SELL- SPEARING ( 24 now and in my opinion is not good enough, without any real room for further improvement) KUYT ( wonderful servant to us, but starts will be limited and impact of the bench is not as affective as we require when struggling to break down teams with 11 men behind the ball) MAXI (my opinion quality player, with great movemnet and vision, clear not fancied or relied upon) AQUILLANI ( not made impact we all would of hoped for, quality footballer and should of been given extra season) JOE COLE ( for me should be at anfield this season along with aquillani due to ability to open up defences but obvious not in clubs plans)...
Loan Out- Flanagan, Robinson, wilson, Shelvey ( all still young, with much improvement there. would all benefit from a season on loan at top championship club playing week in week out, but with option for recall)...
Buy- LASSANA DIARRA- £7M-£14M ( proven quality centre midfielder, premiership experiance, dynamic and aggressive, would also ease pressure on LUCAS coming back after a long abscence, replacing spearing position in squad) CLINT DEMPSEY- £8M- £12M ( proven premiership goalscorer, good in the air, deadly in the box, ability to play uptop, in the hole or out wide, rplace kuyt position in the squad) IBRAHIM AFELLAY- £4M-£8M ( quick, intelligent, tricky either flank winger or in the hole attacker. ability to unlock defences and attack with pace. replacing maxi position in squad) JUNIOR HOILLETT- FREE-COMPENSATION ( young english, inteligent, tricky confident winger gets at defence, out of contract compensation needed) LUUK DE JONG- £7M-£12M ( young 21yr old 6FT2 forward, ideal for 3rd striker with squad rotation. quick in the box forward)
Also if available to be considered- Victor Moses, Adam Johnson ect
SQUAD
GK= Reina, Doni, Gulasci DEF= Johnson, Kelly, Enrique, Agger, Skrtle, Coates, Carragher MID= Lucas, Diarra, Adam, Henderson, Downing, Hoillett, Afellay, Gerrard, Bellamy, Dempsey FWD= Suarez, Carroll, DeJong YOUNGSTERS= Flanagan, Robinson, Shelvey, Wilson, Sterling, Suso, Coady, morgan Good post. Agree with pretty much all of that. All of your suggestions of players to sell/loan out/(attempt to) buy would be very similar to my own ideas. The transfer targets you've mentioned are reasonably sensible and realistic ones too. Yea sorry should of quoted attempt to buy! That's the main thing disscusions of realistic targets at the minute and believe all would jump at chance to sign for LFC

I don't think our squad is good enough going into next season. Our midfield is very weak and we don't score enough goals. We need to find back up for Lucas and mould in a player to replace Gerrard, perhaps Shelvey or Hendo to step up. Also in need of another winger. I'm hoping Downing was suffering from first season syndrome and will actually be good next year. Not too worried defensively as we have a sound backline. However Agger is injury prone and so an experienced centre back may be needed for back up (Carra is not good enough anymore). Enrique has also worried me this past while as well. As for the keeper situation, not too sure if we will be able to hold on to Reina, he hasn't been good enough this season though and is definitely replaceable, it has never been a secret of his desire for champions league football though. and im pretty sure everyone already knows that we need a striker or 2.
I never finish anythi

I too agree, although Id like to see Henderson and Adam gone and bring in Gaston Ramirez or another creative midfielder, maybe Granero? but Granero is more of a winger right?

granero plays CM cant recall seeing him playing on the wing at madrid. in response to post made about dempsey, i can acknowledge hes having a great season i can also acknowledge him having premiere league experience, but you cant just look at a player one off and say hes going to fit in, dempsey is 29 hitting 30 how much years do you think dempsey as in him and at what cost will fulham let him go. in regards to someone saying we just need a defensive midfielder so we dont need javi martinez, i agree he would be more expensive than diarra but you have to look for value for your money . agger is injury prone coates still young and lets face it carra is on his way out, so getting someone thats able to fill as much gap as possible why wouldnt that make sense, if you have CB problems would you put diarra there and also how many years do martinez have left diarra his 27 hitting 28 max he got 4 more years martinez is 23-24. bilboa doesnt have champions league either.

Prices for Kagawa are being talked about for 8mil, we'd be foolish to let him go somewhere else for that without making a bid. I'd like to see either him or Honda to tap into the asian market as well as having quick, versatile play makers. Honda has played striker for Japan in the past and deputises there quite well. He can play either up front, in midfield or out wide as he's extremely versatile. Where as you mainly see Kagawa as a Mata/Silva esque type of player that scores his fair share of goals. Either of these two wouldn't cost more than 15mil and would benefit our squad greatly!

what do you mean bilboa doesnt sell, your telling me if city or madrid wanted one of their players they wouldnt settle. im sure without even checking that they have had transfers in the past. thats the thing thats keeping down liverpool its like we are settling for whatever comes our way, as bad as things be i have to respect madrid chelsea and city to a certain extent, whenever they want a player they go and get them, if they dont then they dont, but the moment a players gets established and other clubs come into the picture its as if theres noway liverpool will get them. i have to wonder about the world wide reach we often claim to posses.

SELL: spearing for sure
i abosolutly hate downing but i think he needs one more season before i personally go and shoot him. Carrol may come good next season but can never live up to price tag hope he proves me wrong. for me Nigel Dejong would be a good buy mascherano type player and doesnt take prisoners, him and lucas would make a good pairing for holding midfielder. badly need a playmaker to fill gerrards boots, stevie got 2 good seasons in him yet but we need someone know to learn off him, and henderson is not the answer. not sure who can step in those shoe's. Luuk dejong stiker from Ajax would be another good signing. have to agree with much of KopAd86 views. maybe you should ask for a postion as adviser.
