I think it's pretty easy to see that Kenny gambled and appears to have lost (even though the gamble is not yet over).

He played Kuyt and Maxi, kept the faith with Henderson and Shelvey, and put out the B back 4 which hasn't looked short of quality. Sadly we conceded a weak goal the way we always do, but the real problem was that apart from Carroll no one in red was trying to win the game, probably because they all realized that the fact they were playing meant the FA Cup "places" had already gone to other players. Of the lot, only Carroll and one of the middle three was likely still in contention for a place on Saturday. Of those 3 only Spearing showed much effort, and yet he was just about our worst player.

It might have been a something game for Fulham, but everyone at our club (including the fans) knew this was a game we could have done without - I'm sure Di Matteo will put out a weak team tonight (even though they face a rival) because he can already see our team selection for the weekend and he knows everyone is fit and rested.

And quite frankly, if that means we win on Saturday I'll be the first to shake Kenny's hand (assuming I could), because he's done the unpopular thing in order to make his strongest play for the final despite the axe over his head and LFC forums like this one in total disarray. Took balls that, and I hope his bravery pays off handsomely this weekend.

You can't always be so worried about injuries. Gerrard and Suarez could both go up for a header in the first minute, clash heads with eachother and be stretchered off. I hope nothing like that happens but you can never predict these things. I don't see much point in resting all these players.

They didn't need to get injured. Why do you think Reina didn't play? Perhaps his red card prior to the last cup game opened Kenny's eyes to the problems with depth in the squad so he wrapped everyone up in cotton wool. The expendables played. He could probably have started Sterling, but I think Kenny wanted to see if Maxi had anything to offer. When Maxi showed he had nothing, Kenny pulled Kuyt (probably for the bench/extra time/penalties on the weekend). The Enrique change was puzzling, but perhaps that too was a test or an experiment.

Make no mistake - this was a nothing game in Kenny's eyes, one he felt he could afford to sacrifice. But I think he was annoyed that the players had no heart for the game - that 11 should still have had enough to see off Fulham (who are atrocious away from home season on season) given how many games they have all played this season (except for Aurelio and Doni).

i get the point on resting players but whoever he put out on that pitch should have done a half decent job

It does nothing to morale of the club or many other things to loose another game with a awful performance.

If we go on to lose the cup final then this will be another stone that people will tie around kenny's neck

so the manager doesn't care about a game and that is okay? but when the players haven't got the heart for the same game they should be crucified? sorry ain't having that. a manager should drive one philosophy into his players 'winning is everything' it's what all the great manager did/do. just 1 of the many reasons kenny is average small team manager nowadays.

I thought it was obvious last night that the players were in two groups, first one was "I`m not going to be playing in the final because I`m playing tonight, so feck it" and the others "I`m off in two games time so who gives a [oops]"
I really struggle to pick anyone who did themselves any favours at all last night, forget Sterling as he came on again late on. Doni made a few saves and apart from that nobody made a positive impression. Enrique and Downing came on and both looked just as bad as the rest, bloody awful performance.!!
