I remember when ken originally shipped him out, he said it was because 'AA plays in the hole behind a striker and we don't have that position at LFC', or words to that effect. He also made similar comments last summer to the ones he's just made. I wouldn't mind seeing Aquilani given another season with us. I'd certainly prefer it to seeing him go out on loan again. I think that option has to be straight up ruled out.

might have no option with regards getting his high wages somewhat offloaded.
i would loan him and cole and carroll too.
then spend every penny we have on a world class player like a lavazzi

Kenny has said this in the past so he's obviously not saying anything right. I expect Aquilani to leave again to Udinese or other midtable Italian team. sigh...

He's Italian - he's got a choice of a mid-table italian sde or a mid-table english side that don't want him. This whol AA situation has been a bit of farce from start to finish, We'll never know what's behind it but it would be nice to draw a line under it for all concerned.

Interesting stat I just read... Possible food for thought??
Jen Chang @JenChang88 Note that in 9 games Aquilani started for LFC from Jan '10, LFC went 6-2-1. Aquilani had 2 goals, 6 assists, hit post twice in those games

Very surprised by the 6 assists in 9 starts though. That alone is an outstanding contribution. Stewart Downing hasn't got a single assist in the league all season (not that he's been solely to blame - most of the blame lies on those on the end of the would-be assists). Factor in a couple of goals to the 6 assists, and that's him being directly involved in 8 goals in 9 games - of which we won 6. Very impressive. He was only hitting form at the end of the season. I've never got why he was moved on at that moment.

I'm with Bar on this one. Either use him or sell him - no more loans, please. He's earned at least a chance with us. God knows who's wife he shagged to deserve the treatment that he's gotten from us but we spent £20 million on him, why not use him? He's a fine player, and at the very least he'd offer something different than our other central midfielders. And, if we're being honest, he's probably a bit more spritely than Stevie is these days...

I do like him, but their must be a good reason why no one buys him outright.
I will listen, only if your answer contains wisdom

Who knows... maybe Aquilani will be better disposed to coming back to LFC after various Italian clubs have snubbed him...
I hear Joe Cole is coming back too. Joe Cole has mentioned he wants to stay in a number of interviews with Lille. I think his Liverpool career is over. He wants to stay but it appears that they simply cannot afford him Snake. I don't think it's by a little either (his salary although he sounds like he's willing to take a cut) is probably twice that which they can pay. So, another gone South. I could see them releasing him on a free. His salary IS twice what they can pay, which is why we're paying 50k of it for him to not be here.
