Regardless of the players qualities (or lack of), he's become a very bad signing for us. When we loaned him to Juve we were trying to sell for 12m. Now, we're trying to sell for 5m (and can't) only one year later. A loss of 7m+ in one year just to save some wages, which I wouldn't imagine are anywhere near 7m a year.
It's been a stupid decision by whoever decided it, and what's worse is we've done it two seasons in a row. It would have been better to keep him at Liverpool as a squad player. I don't think he's wonderful, he's a bit lightweight, but he can pick a pass, and I don't think he'd have done any worse than Spearing, Henderson or Adam, the last two coming at a cost of around 30m, and probably similar cost in wages. Why do we allow ourselves to be ripped off by these Italian clubs?
I agree with Rafa here, a bad decision to let him go over there ,when he signed for he must have been committed to do well for us, ok he did seem a bit light weight to me but i have to say i hardly seen him to decide how well he could have done had he be given a year or so to toughen up for our league,he could have been used as a squad player at least but we will never know probably, its been bad decisions all around but how long was his contract with us? Ive forgotten, get him back if they don't want to cough up the money and se what he can do he may not want to be in England but that's too bad he signed he has to play here till the contract ends. It may interesting to see if he can devolope into a decent player.
