I know not all are gonna agree but hear me out ok. When rafa has been allowed to spend over 10m his record is outstanding. Torres 23m now worth 80m? , alonso paid 14m was sold for 30m, mash paid 18m now maybe selling for 36m? aqualani paid 20m and we'll have to wait on that one. Kuyt 11m and i think its been worth it no doubt based on his euro goals alone. Babel 12m and well i think that maybe his only mistake when allowed to get first choice targets. So for all those knockers of rafa in the transfer market i think its very harsh considering hes had to buy 2nd and 3rd choice targets. Also sissoko was a great bit of business as well. All in all it makes you wonder WHAT IF RAFA WAS BACKED IN THE TRANSFER MARKET!!!

if u read what i stated emp , u would see that i said when rafa has been able to buy who he wants his record is outstanding, i hardly think dossena was his number 1 choice and also 7m is peanuts for an international player these days. And im quite sure he'll get maybe 6m of that back when we sell him. As for Kuyt , you cannot say that he hasnt been worth the money we paid for him over the long term, his goals in europe have saved us many of time. We wouldnt have even been playin in last seasons CL if not for his goal vs standard liege. doubling alonsos value , doubling mascheranos value , trippling reinas value, quadripling torres value, all proves how good this man is in the market when hes allowed to spend what he wants. And dont start dribbling [oops] about how many bad 1-3m pound signings hes made because any manager would do the same with that sorta cash

All managers make bad signings. We need to be thankful that Rafa's are all reletively cheap. Take a look at Shevchenko for £32m, Nani and Anderson for a combined £29 - 30m (I think), Hargreaves for £18m and he's injured more than Degen. Nothing gets said about that.
Its un-fortunate when a player doesn't work out and I think people are a bit un-fair to Dossena. As MarkoP said he had all the credentials and at least he puts in the effort at training to try and improve and is not off down the recording studio with his mates! I think when you look at it the good will out way the bad (just).

Marko and Wilkij got it spot on, when rafa makes a mistake in the market it costs the club a few million pounds, when other top4 managers make a mistake it has cost 20-30m, there hasnt been one expensive flop at pool since rafa has been here. and anytime he has been backed hes at the very least doubled that players value!! which is quite amazing i feel. IF ONLY HE WAS BACKED!!

The reason he signed Pennant was because he wasn't given the money for Daniel Alves, the reason he signed Bellamy was because he wasn't given the money to sign Villa (even then).
He also missed out on Vidic, Evra and Barry because he wasn't allowed to act when he wanted to and now it appears this applies to young Ramsey as well.
I can understand some riticism of the manager espically at the moment but to call him a coward is disgraceful. You are talking about a good man with a good family trying to do the very best he can in his job, which happens to be our family club.
You should be ashamed.

robbie keane wasnt raffa's signing, so he can hardly be blamed for that. im delighted to see so many people talking sense on this thread and having an objective view.
its true that other managers brought in flops and have made errors. even ferguson. selling tevez and keeping berbatov? christ all mighty. nani is a joke, ferdinand is an accident waiting to happen in every game, and for years ferguson couldnt get his keeprs right after smeichel left. raffa has actually been very shrewed in my opinion and hasnt lost big money the way other clubs have. ya know if im being honest, im starting to have more faith in raffa than i ever have.
Luis Garcia, He drinks sangria He came from Barca, to bring us Joy He's five foot seven, he's football heaven please don't take my Luis away.

you people are mad..keane was only a 4m flop now..haha and he wasn't even rafa's signing, was forced on him no doubt. well if rafa is so brillant in the transfer market how come we are all but out of the champs league, out of the title in october, how come any half decent side beats us with ease..must be all those injuries we have , yhea rafa must be them and don't forget to quote the amount of points you got last yr as some sort of justification of your powers..86 points bla bla bla..fergie doesn't even mention the win they got last week..its next game but no rafa is scrambling around looking for excuses. there's clearly problems with the team right now but can you blame it on how rafa's has been handling the transfers? we were playing the best football in europe 6 months ago (alongside barca) and i don't think we just can forget that...the summer of 09 was the summer when we were going to add the last pieces to the team but instead we made a profit on the transfer market and failed to land any real quality players (though i hope aquilani will turn out to be one)....rafa has to be held responsible for the aquilani situation and it would have been better to go for sneijder, but still we made a profit last summer...what happened with silva, tevez, lavezzi??? thats right, there were no money and that is the owners fault... rafa has made some very strange decisions this season with substitutions and so on, but when it comes to the transfer market he hasn't been backed the way he should have been....end of

i started this thread wondering if everyone would agree with me and im glad everyone is bar the fool that is emporer rafa, losing out 2 or 3m here and there emp has been well and trully made up by how well hes done when he has been backed. I agree with the fact that we lack depth and its cost us this season but when our squad is fully fit we are one of the best sides in world football and that has been proven in europe the past 5 years hes been in charge, theres no doubt hes taken this team forward and all this with his hands tied behind his back in the transfer market, u dont need to be eienstein to see how frustrating its been to miss out on every player thats been his first choice target and as long there these 2 cherry tarts are in charge it will only continue sadly, its really scary to think the players we would now have in our squad and how good we would be had rafa been able to do his job properly and freely. To be honest my heart really gos out to the man coz it must be F***ing frustrating for him.

I cannot believe for one minute that you are actually a Liverpool fan, like I said I can understand criticism of the manager as he does make some strange choices sometimes but overall he has been excellent during his time with us.
I think we were a bit to complacent at the start of the season after such a great season last time around and it cost us, then due to injuries and a loss of confidence we have struggled to get back to winning games, but Lyon and Brum were games we deserved to win.
I am convinced we will beat City on Saturday and that we will still quailfy for the next stage of the Champions League anf the season will go from strength to strength.
'Emperor Rafa' you can pop back to Red Cafe or whatever it is called these days and report that back.
