The older ones were all just slush bags with 4 inflatable cushions stuffed and jammed under each wheel arch to act as some sort of cushioning device against center white/yellow lines.

These days, some of them actually do appear to have SPRINGS made our of recycled Mc Dreadfuls boxes.
