oh jesus, please for the love of god do not appoint rodgers or O'Neil (my plea to the board). I've an absolute enough of average choices for my club. That is why we're in 8th. There is no good candidate we could get from the PL, we are going to HAVE to go foreign. Rodgers and O'neil are where they should be at the level they should be at. If we want to remain mid table then lets bring in more average sh!te to consolidate it, if we want top 4, stay well clear of managers like o'neil and rodgers.

Definitely, Rafa back will be a backwards step. Guys, most of us if not all wanted Rafa out a couple of years ago. I know we are desperate following the results we have had lately, but, I cannot see how Rafa will do better in the league this time. The team was not that bad when he took over, remember we won the Champions league, but we competed for the top spot only once with him. On top of that, he took the then best team in Europe (Inter) after us, what did he achieve in the Italian league? He was sacked because Inter was about not to qualify for Champions League. Definitely not Rafa for me if we want to win the Premiership. This is why no club with top spot ambitions in their leagues is not approaching him.

Would Brendan Rodgers or Martin O'Neill be given consideration?

Yes but we must remember, this is Kenny, not Benitez.

We can't burn Rafa with the same statement, unless he had a second bite of the cherry and it fizzled out the same way. We just don't know, therefore we can't really say.

I'm more optimistic about Rafa though, because it seems like he has learned his lesson(s) by having this break away from management. He can sit back and relax, evaluate, analyze, look what he can do better, what he can learn from other managers, how he can change. When I listen to Rafa now, I don't get the same stubborn man as I used to.

I'd be inclined to give him the job as soon as the season ends. Whether or not the owners see it the same way, I don't know. However, I can't help but feel Rafa knows something recently, that we don't about Liverpool. He seems happier and more content now, as if he has been "sounded out" to come back quietly, behind closed doors at the end of the season. That might just be my imagination, but he isn't so "doom n gloom" now, than he was at some points during this break away.

Personally I think both managers you have mentioned would be turned on virtually straight away if things got "tough" and I think both men would crumble under the pressure, if it was to manifest.

If everybody is set on "we need to move on, we need fresh"....then I think we have to agree on that those managers, are not a realistic option to "move on"...because we'd see the same again, wouldn't we?

For me, if we want to "move on" and the owners are as serious as they say they are, then there is only very few managers that can come in and "move us on".

1. Mourinho

2. Villas Boas (although risk of prolonged "transition"...and doubt surrounding the appointment due to his previous job at Chelsea)

3. Rafa

I'd be more than happy and support any one of those if they was brought in when Kenny steps aside.

However, we must not give up on Kenny yet, he could turn it all around and all of this "talk" about a new "better" manager would be just that, talk.

Evidence please. Hicks and Gillett had that call to make. Hick's and Gillett do not get along with Henry, and the sale didn't go as they wished. What you're suggesting looks possible but unlikely.
broughton made the decision as part of the negotiaions fenway were lined-up for months hicks and gillett were not involved in club decisions then .

So it's only natural for you to fight against it and use just about every reason NOT to appoint Benitez.

Gotta say though, do you honestly think the owners can't admit they didn't make mistakes? Can't they see the "mistakes" they are currently making now?

Surely you do what's best for the club, in any situation?

Obviously some fans don't want Benitez back, I get that. Some want him back just out of blind love for the man, I don't get that. BUT some would take him back, after really thinking about it and putting the conditioning aside. Can you not get that?

Like I say it'd be a crying shame if Rafa had to sell himself low to get into another club in the league, ESPECIALLY if our managers job is vacant. Putting aside all of the "Benitez baggage" from the last time he was here, you'd be an absolute fool to discredit this man AND NOT be willing to give him a second go.

Faz, this is coming from someone who was exactly like you only a few days ago, I wouldn't touch Rafa with a barge pole sort of attitude. I know where your coming from, I've been there. Once you "analyze" (as Rafa would say wink ) everything and look at it all with a clear point of view, you'll see that Rafa is just about as good as any option for our next manager.

Personally I don't get this "Well what about Bellamy, or Gerrard, or Carra" SO F*CKING WHAT! If they are so against other managers joining the club, then why aren't they going all out for Dalglish? Talk is cheap of the pitch, because on the pitch it looks as if they can't be bothered with Dalglish, either.

If they don't like it, they can lump it, especially Bellamy! If we start catering to players needs regarding managers, we might as well be called Chelsea 2.

If for some reason this whole Dalglish thing doesn't work (as much as we all want it to) and we are looking to bring in a new manager, then we have to look at the options on the plate.

Rafa is one of them.
bringing back a failed and toxic manager who hasnt worked now for well over a year would be trhe mistake , the club have already gone with the fans , now they have to be a business and make the right decision not based wholely on sentiment

Do you trust the owners to make that decision though?

I think it's impossible, because let's be honest, they themselves haven't got a clue about the inside and outside of football, they get other people in to help them influence their decisions so they don't come across as people who haven't got a clue about the business they bought and invest in.

So if Kenny did step aside, I don't trust them to bring in the right manager, without the advice and help of other people.

I feel Kenny will play a pivotal role in that and the owners decision and if he does, I struggle to look at anyone being our manager, other than Rafa.

I doubt Kenny will recommend Mourinho, do you?

If the owners are as serious as they claim they are, they have to be totally brutal here, if they want to win.....it's Mourinho, but it's clear to me that they are relying on other people to help them and it's because of this, I have my doubts over Mourinho being our next manager.

Who would you bring in faz?

if dalglish goes he will go completely and shouldnt be moved to the board or the acadamy because thats where he was and should have stayed , i believe the new manager must be very long term and will be a coach because guarantee anyone comolli will not be moving on as he was a fenway appointment because thats there business model .

I agree, he would be one of my choices, this time last season it would of cost us 15 million pound in compensation to prise him away from Porto, now we can have him for free. The thing which appeals to me about him is that now he will have an unbearable hunger to prove Chelsea and the footballing world that he is not a flop and this could well work to our advantage, surely you dont go from the most sought after young coach in the world to a bad coach in the matter of about 6 months.
