If it was one or the other then I would take the two cups this year but eventually we are going to have to qualify for the CL as I believe CL football is the only way to attract top talent so we can close the gap on our rivals.

I dont' think we can win the champions league with the current squad next year, so give me the two cups please.

Maybe but where does this position the club. Have we no ambition anymore maybe John Henry would make an announcement before they start selling next seasons tickets because I want to support a top club not a mid rated one. And no I am not knocking the Carling Cup but our ambitions and the fans who seemingly are prepared to accept low ambitions.

I assume you don't mean me as I to, am not happy with mid table finishing, but my point was, it is better to have two cups in the cabinet, then finish 4th and go into the champions league with a squad clearly not good enough and one which might need another 100 million spent to come even close, which has no real chance of winning it.

We had no chance of winning it in 2005 as I recall.

I think every team's supporters wants to support a top Club but we cant all Stanley, we just need to accept we have had our time at the top, your like me we have our memories which can never be taken away,nobody has seen what we have, nearly every other teams supporters are not lucky enough to of seen what we have so we should just be thankful. I dont think football is all about winning the League or Champions League, fans of mid to lower league Clubs in all divisions still get highs and lows out of there season which is what football is all about, rough with the smooth afterall, you need the lows to appreciate the highs.

No I don't agree North Liverpool we could get back maybe not to our previous dominance but certainly we could win the title and european cup again. I don't accept we are finished but more of this inertia from the owners and we will be.

Stanley I honestly cant see us winning the title again, not the way football is, when we won the Leagues in the past we were the biggest or second biggest Club in the country at the time, we were top of the food chain, now there are about three Clubs more bigger and more powerful than us now not to mention the likes of your Spurs and Arsenal who can more than match us both on and off the field. Football would have to change for us to win the League and in all honesty I cant see it changing for the foreseeable future unless there is a crash, only problem is that if that happens it will allow a more level playing field which in turn will bring your other Clubs like Villa, Everton, Newcastles e.t.c. closer to us at the same time.

I'd take trophies over 4th any day of the week.

I would rather show my son trophies we have won rather than a 4th place qualifying place in next season champions league as we are not good enough to progress far in the tournament atm.
