Now as we know Gerrard was injured whilst on internetional duty , pushed through training when there was absolutely no need for him to be there .
The question is who pays the wages ?
Also think of this senario , Gerrard has stated this will prob be his last world cup , we know how desperate he is to get there and try for a medal , but at what cost ?

to us it`s huge , he has surgery and takes ages to recover and then regain form and fitness , meenwhile our season suffers because of it , also think next season , Torres , no meeningfull break for what 4 years , euros , prem , confederations , prem , world cup , prem , notice a pattern here ?
If his injury is prolonged there is no sign of decent rest and recovery , so what I want to know is are the f--kin di--heads at the F--- A payin the wages , it`s not as if we are rolling in it !!!!!

answers on a postcard please , maybe a comment from our great leader Dunk !!

i know its a hot topic with benitez especially since last year. i dont think gerrards wages would be paid by the fa but i think raff had been looking for some kid of compensation to be paid to clubs in these situations, because it lends itself to national sides being irresponsible and not being held accountable.
Aside from that, its the same rule across the board for all clubs whatever the state of affairs, unfortunately we so desperately need our stars to be fit, it hurts us the most. im sure raffa will be all over it, but for now i think clubs cover all costs. its a joke.

to be honest i think it has done us a favour the way gerrard has performed this season! maybe a break is what he needs ...... he certainly hasn't played anywhere near the level he can do

I'm not sure how it works but compo is paid out. A few years ago John Barnes was injured playing for England & was out for months. The FA (probably insurance) paid his wages until he was available to play again.

im not sure its fair to single out gerrard, we have been [oops] across the board, also its hard to know how long he's been carrying that injury. i'd sooner have him then not have him. we simply dont have cover.

yea we seem to be haunted at the moment. i think the club manager should have the final say as to whether they go on duty or not.

surely when there is no need for them to play the manager of the club should have the power to say no , the player needs to rest and recover , therefore he comes back to the club , I am worried this is goin to bite us in the arse thi year , knowing how desperately Gerrard wants to be in the world cup !!!!
We should be allowed to get an emergency loan as cover for him , me thinks ???

i think holding the national team more responsible would make them think twice about risking players. must be very frustrating for clubs.
