I'm strongly opposed to loan signings, especially long term ones. When I was growing up you'd sometimes hear about players going on loan for a few weeks, possibly even a month or 2 to cover at small clubs when they had injuries. I can't understand the need for a rule to allow big clubs to lend/borrow players for up to a season at a time.
That was always the way years ago. Season-long loans were pretty much unheard of, and even then, any loans were for young players or players who weren't at all in the plans of their club. Top players were NEVER loaned out. Then a few years ago this seemed to become the done thing overnight. I'd gladly see new rules brought in stopping players within a certain age bracket being loaned.
And whilst we're at it, how about getting rid of the pointless transfer windows?!
Another thing I'd gladly see scrapped. The transfer window hasn't always been in, has it? Did you not used to be able to sign players pretty much all season, or at least between June and March or something like that??
One final thing, 'shielding' the ball out of play - when did that officially stop becoming blatant obstruction? gets on my t!ts I tell thee.
I'm not gonna complain about this for the reason that Jose Enrique is excellent at it
