the last thing i would want to watch is one of our players and our manager bow down to anyone.Suarez stood up for what he feels is right and Dalglish will stand by him.its called support.
+1
Except that the thing that Suarez has stood up for is being a petulant child, which is patently wrong and not something I want this club being associated with. Dalglish's support just makes it seem like the blind leading the blind. I'd rather have a manager that can be honest with himself and recognize when his players are out of order than one who thinks everything the players do is fine and dandy.
is this you saying or fergie...
Fergie is spot on here in my opinion. What exactly has he said that so offends you? Here are some excerpts:
"Patrice told me this morning, 'I'm going to shake his hand, I've nothing to be ashamed of.' But then Suarez refuses. He's a disgrace to Liverpool Football Club."
Evra was willing to let the issue rest. Suarez instead ensured that it would be dragged on and on. His actions were childish and stupid. Things like that give the club a bad name, which is the very definition of the word "disgrace."
"[T]he history that club's got, and he does that. In a situation like today he could have caused a riot."
Again, spot on. Our club has such a magnificent history with so many dignified players. John Barnes is a perfect example. Despite the horrible abuse that he received, he played on and was one of our best ever players. He never really kicked up a fuss about anything. He kept his head down and carried on. Meanwhile, Suarez is pulling this cr@p. Fergie is absolutely right, we're lucky that there doesn't appear to have been any fan-related violence during or after the game. Things like that can really get a crowd riled up.
"I was really disappointed in that guy, it was terrible what he did. It created tension, you saw the referee, he didn't know what to do about it. It caught him off guard."
I'm disappointed in Suarez too. I honestly expected him to be the bigger person and shake Evra's hand but I guess that's asking too much of dear Luis. I was caught off guard as well when I saw it, and my immediate reaction was pure shock. Followed shortly by disappointment.
"Racism is an important issue. Football has come a long way from the days of John Barnes having bananas thrown at him. We can't go back, we have to go forward and ban it altogether."
Again, nothing controversial here. Racism was a massive problem years ago but things have improved remarkably since then. It's a blight on the game and should be completely eradicated. It has no place in football or society.
As a whole, I honestly don't see anything there to disagree with. Ferguson can be a complete hypocrite at times but this was a very level-headed assessment. He never absolved Evra of guilt. In fact, when a reporter told him about Evra's post-match antics (which Ferguson did not see) he said "He shouldn't have done that."
