I would have the Champions league over a FA or League cup win anyday.

We still have about 17 games to go. it is in our power.

not being in the European cup Whilst the mancs, tottenham, aresolhes and chelsea are swanning around , is not acceptable

Cup runs aside.

4th place minimum, or Commoli should be looking at Kenny's p45. just like Rafa, and Houllier.

It's just to do with what is a MINIMUM standard for the club

You LFC fans who think we are doing OK, ought to b*gger off and go and support Everton or Tranmere.

Mediocre.

Ive stated before Id rather be playing in a Carling Cup final at Wembley than playing a Champion League qualifier vs a Euro team. Win both cups or 4th place? Give me the CUPS ALL DAY EVERY DAY. The way the Mancs bailed out of the Champions League this year a 4th C.L. spot might not be there soon anyway.

We are now what Spurs where in the early eighties, a top six team who are capable of beating anyone on our day as today and Wednesday night proved. I am quite happy with that myself just not happy we have spent 130 million pound doing it when we could easily of maintained what we are spending 30 or 40 million on the right players.
I would take any of the Cups over finishing fourth myself but in no way, shape or form should winning any cup save a managers lousy skin, the League and how far off the eventual winners is the yard stick as far as thats concerned and always should be.

So you expected us to be challenging for the title this year, then? I think your expectations and your yard stick are utterly unrealistic. Rebuilding a squad is a massive undertaking. Cup success is a big step towards that. We want the club to be successful, and to do that, you have to win trophies. The League Title and a European Cup are the two biggest trophies, but we are not capable of challenging for those just yet. Meanwhile, to keep and attract players like Gerrard and Suarez so that we can move up in the league and challenge for the title, we need to win trophies now.

This trophy vs CL place debate has been done to death.

I've said from the start that I see no reason why we can't do both. The reality now is that we're now in the Carling Cup final so it's not really a realistic/fair question. My answer is both.

And I agree with you. I still think both are attainable. I was only meaning we aren't a team that can win the CL or the League just yet.

I totally agree with you, we are not a team ready to win the league or champions league just yet, we may not even be a team ready for the top 4, but we can hope we are, time will tell.

I will listen, only if your answer contains wisdom

If it were a straight choice I would say cups. Winning stuff is what attracts people to the club. But there is no reason why it cannot be both however it must be noted that no team from the Prem has yet won everything despite the sizes of some of the squads and the money at their disposal. Two cups and a 4th place would put KK close to manager of the year.

We need these players and some of those on the edge of the squad to play at a higher level. Europa league will do that for starters. CL now would be a step too far with these players now.

If you have read any of my previous posts you will know I dont expect us to ever win the League again while football is the way it is and i cant see us challenging either, that ship has sailed for us and we are no longer a big enough Club so no I never expected us to challenge for the League. However what I did expect this season was given the money we have spent and also given Arsenal and Chelsea have had one off poor seasons was a good chance of fourth place. Here we are in only January and already we know we wont be finishing there, we are struggling from one poor result to another and the performances are getting worse, the manager does'nt look like he has a clue how to end this slide and we have even more difficult fixtures than Stoke and Bolton coming up, things look bleak.

Whatever happens with the fa cup and league cup, we still have to stay within our target of 4th place, slipping to 5th or 6th is ok, however if we finish 7th it would be a danger zone.
