Maybe people in that kind of position should keep it shut until the club make a decision.

It is pretty clear that the fa panel were influenced by media reporting on Suarez, people should give the club the time and respect to make their retort, anyone thinking the club shouldn't have backed Luis is away with the fairies also.

At the same time, appear to be apologetic and eat the humble pie. The FA will be happy to look at the appeal and reduce it to close the matter. It'll be a win-win situation for all parties.

That's provided there still an ounce of sanity and decency left within the FA.

I like the idea, no need to go to war with the FA

Thats a big proviso you tagged on there, mighty. But I would tend to agree with your main point, either take the ban or appeal for a reduction. And yes cp, no need to go to a war we can't win. The FA hold all the cards and the media will have a field day against us. In addition our appeal proceedings will only serve as a smoke screen to facilitate a whitewash on the Terry case. Personally I would favour a statment from LFC with something to the effect; whilst we are fully convinced that Suarez did not intend any Racial slur on Evra, we do not want to get bogged down with either an appeal or a legal challenge and thus divert our focus and attention at this point in our rebuilding process. However should Suarez wish to resort to the legal processes available to him, in order to clear his name, LFC will fully facilitate and support him.
I feel we are in something of a hole with this calamity and we need to stop digging and move on. We have shown against Newcastle that we are not dependent on any one player, however good he is, and we should take it on the chin and move on.

Can I ask a simple question, Will it be alrite for me to go into work tomorrow and say to a black person "Dale, negro, negro, negro." and pinch there skin, What are your thoughts about what will happen, will I be defended for saying it or will people in work call me a racist, or will the person in work concerned be told stop being a drama queen for complaining. Please post your views as I am just interested to know after reading peoples interpretations on here of what has happend.

Thanks Stanley I will give it a go and see what happens, according to the majority on here the person complaining will be the one out of order for bringing it to the attention, let you know how it goes.

Problem is that there are discrepancies in Evra's account which the FA has glossed over; and the FA seems to have treated Suarez differently to Evra. Had we produced a reconciliatory statement sooner it may not have got to this. But now I feel LFC have no option but to give a detailed point by point response whether they appeal or not.

Before doing so LFC will need to work out why Suarez changed his account; why the legal team didn't help him well enough; why the legal team seemed so inept at the hearing, in producing our witness statements, and generally in the defence it put forward.

Having done that I would suggest issuing a detailed statement (200+ pages if need be) stating:

- why LFC defended Suarez vigorously (my view is that it was because the original accusation was that he called Evra a 'N1gger' 5 times according to Fergie and 10 times according to Evra which Suarez denied)

- which aspects of the verdict they accept. Accompanied with an apology to anyone offended by the use of the word 'Negro' including Evra albeit with the caveat that it was not intended to be insulting despite the panel's opinion.

- which aspects of the verdict and statement they disagree with and why

- the fact that the original accusation made by Evra on the day has been found not to be true beyond doubt and a request for Evra to publicly acknowledge this.

- a statement of commitment to the anti-racism cause and a review of the club's diversity policy to ensure that all newcomers receive an induction course covering diversity and ant-racism (including FA rules)

Without such a response the credibility and reputation of Dalglish and the club will be left for journalist to determine based on whichever way the wind is blowing.

Suarez is the key I think. If he is adamant that he did not say Negro more than once then I think he and the club has no choice but to appeal - but I'd get a better legal team first.

If he did indeed lead KK, Comoli, the fans and the club up the garden path, then even if he only said negro once the club should accept the ban (but still with a detailed statement as mentioned above) and leave Suarez to clear his own name in the courts if he wants to. In this situation though, Suarez's position at the club may become untenable and we'd need to be clever in trying to sell him without his value plumetting.

Whichever way we go it's a complete mess, largely of our own making.

It would help if you actually bothered to read the document released by the FA,Suarez has denied he used the term 'Negro' more than once.
