well calling him negro is different to negrito , and the context is the way said in it couldnt be in a nice way on the pitch just cant be , if you have every played and been involved in a spat with an opposing player you dont say nice things to each other while the game is in play . yes - negro is different to negrito but also... negro in spanish is different to negro in english... he said it in Spanish .. there is also confusion as to how he used it in the sentence. Even if we agree that the fact that he used the word is bad enough, then okay... but that's only a 2 game ban - 4 max i believe. The panel has deemed that he said it 7 times - for which their is no evidence except Evra's statement (which itself is inconsistent with his original claims) as for the bit about not saying nice things, that's just opinion and experience. that's not evidence of what actually happened here. in addition, have you never seen players mouth obscenities at each other but then shake hands or seem reconciled after the ref has intervened?

The word negro means 'black' in Spanish and Portuguese, from the Latin niger, 'black', probably from a Proto-Indo-European root *nekw-, 'to be dark', akin to *nokw- 'night'.[1][2]

For gods sake. I played football to a reasonable amateur level in the cheshire league when I was yonnger and what you were called week in week out was no bodies business. I know its very PC today but its hard not to imagine both these players had been called much worse. It sounds to me just opportunism Evra was having a hard time so he thought he would get back at Suarez. The whole thing is a joke.

The word negro means 'black' in Spanish and Portuguese, from the Latin niger, 'black', probably from a Proto-Indo-European root *nekw-, 'to be dark', akin to *nokw- 'night'. and your point is? What I would say is that negro in spanish is not as controversial as negro in english. In Spanish, it depends on context and in some cases is used as a descriptive term without offence being taken. In UK english however, negro may have originally been an accepted official term for black people, but nowadays it is regarded as offensive in whatever context it is used. It just can't be used in day to day conversation. Hence why Negro on Spanish is not the same as Negro in english.

the context of the game means it wasnt said in jest or with affection towards evra which suarez alleges it was it couldnt be . Faz, this is just opinion. It's not fact. You might have a good reason and logic for your opinion, but at the end of the day it's still only an opinion. It may also be a case of imposing your own cultural bias on someone from a different culture who spoke in a different language.
