One loss in 11 and this is the response? How many home draws in those eleven? Draw = loss, remember? The response is not that Kenny needs to be sacked which seems to be what you're implying. The response is that we're 7th on the table, have missed several opportunities to sit in 3rd or at least 4th, and any advantage we gained from our rivals having a rough time has been frittered away playing a system that is not bearing fruit. Just about anyone can see that we are a much more dangerous football side when Carroll does not start. Most would prefer we persisted with that system, gave it time to gel. That's not because Carroll's a bad player (though some would have you believe that), but simply because he does not fit with our more natural style of play which is to pass it around with pace and to players with pace. He's not on the same wavelength as his team mates, and it's holding us back. The only person who can change this is the manager. So Dalglish needs to stop carrying on about Suarez not getting enough protection - he needs to stop Suarez a) diving and b) behaving like a petulant brat because referees now ignore legitimate fouls on him. Reap what you sow, and all that. He needs to stop thinking that we lost to Fulham because Spearing was incorrectly sent off. The game should have been well out of their grasp before his poor challenge. At least he didn't say "Their keepers always have their best game against us," because he knows it's false - the shocking quality of our finishing is more at fault. Just 40% of shots on target, most easily savable? Not good enough! Like some others I always feel that LFC needs to deal with things in-house (though I can make an exception if the owners are misbehaving), but right now all we seem to be doing is blaming everyone else instead of taking a hard look at ourselves and realizing we are not up to scratch. We've scored one goal in total against Spurs, Stoke, Fulham, Norwich, and Swansea, and that goal came in a game we drew after going ahead. While I don't expect us to win every game, I do expect better than that given that we've (re)invested more than 70 million pounds in Downing, Suarez, and Carroll. We are poor at the back, conceding a goal every game, but that's ok because outside buying Enrique and Coates we've not specifically tried to improve there - we got a young player for the future and bought a left back because we have no such specialists (Aurelio doesn't count). But to direct our spending on the attack yet score fewer goals than both sides propping up the bottom of the table suggests we don't know what we're doing. And that again is all in the hands of the manager. Hence the title of the tread.

Jees, Thundyr - I am surprised at you. This sounds like a rant to me and whilst they are all points of discussion you are way over the top. Or pattern of play has improved significantly and the new players are starting to settle. we have had great performances from Suarez, Enrique, Adam, Bellamy and good performances Coates, Henderson and early on Downing. Thats 6 new first team players + Coates. Only Carroll has been disapointing as a whole.
I would analyse each game this season and tell me what you see. Apart from Spurs we have been rather good in the whole. The style of play is attractive and the side is alot younger than last year. We could play the same team for the next 3 seasons and nearly all would be under 29. Baring in mind most peak at 27/8yrs.
We are not getting the rub of the green and some players and fans are getting frustrated. Hopefully saturday we can up our game a little and get those points. I have no doubt the performance will be ok, would be nice to see some goals though and get everyone back on side. Is it a rant? Probably. Guilty as charged there, I guess. I'm mostly frustrated that there seem to be several obvious choices that we continually ignore. These include starting Carroll and Downing together, playing Downing on the left and only on the left, playing Henderson in the middle, perhaps not starting Carroll but bringing him on at the end, playing Maxi as a poacher because we need goals badly. You're right that we should look at each game, but we've had half a season to try to understand our squad and these are the things we (as fans anyway, distant from the training ground as we are) can see. You are correct that in general our players have improved, but the whole is still less than the sum of the parts, and that suggests we're putting the machine together incorrectly.

All I have to say is the Caroll and Suarez partnership is not working, you can defend Caroll all you want, however the facts are there. We have no goal scorer in the top ten of the EPL scoring charts, we are on level with teams like Fulham and we can not convert chances to goal. I like the transition Kenny has done with the cub, we have turned into a counter attacking and quick moving team under him, however the finishing product is not there. Kenny needs to find his first 11 up till January, and then buy some good players; Xhiriqi, Gotze, Hazard and maybe even Soldado.

End of the day the way we are progressing we will finish around 6th maybe 5th if one of the top 5 struggle.
But currently we are not going to be top 3 or 4, we do need to bring some fresh blood in January and hopefully we can get closer top the top of the table.
We are 15 points behind city and 10 behind untied thought spurs can go second if they win their game in hand. The important note is we are 5 being 4th and arsenal have found form in 5th. So i am letting my head rule my heart and say 6th maybe 5th with the current squad seems right.
Also i agree with flames and a few others on here and that the league cup should be a high priority because any silverware is good.

Well I can't believe I am saying this again but we need to spend in January to still make improvements. Its sick considering we have spent over 100m already this past year without major improvements. I definatly agree about Kuyt and Maxi as well. Bring back the Kuyt Suarez partnership and have Maxi on as well and we will see goals flowing in.

I don't think it is OTT I think you'd struggle to make a case that Downing hasn't 'disappointing' and henderson and Coates have been inconsitent Adam, Bellamy and Enrique have done well - but that's three from five, or six if you bring Carroll into the equation

Whilst not brilliant he has had some good games, I would like to see him attack his man more but not terrible as many are suggesting. Hnderson also looks a player in the centre and has sent many a player through on goal only to see them miss. Suarez, Kuyt in two games I remember. Again needs to look forward more but not a disaster.

The flip side re: downing is that he's gone from having the most assists in the league (at Villsa last season) to none with us - that's a fairly stark contrast Henderson hasn't been a disaster. He's made at least a couple of eye-catching substitute appearances and has only looked really out of his depth when he's played wide on the right, which disturbingly Kenny persists with despite it not being his natural position Neither him nor Downing have been terrible but they haven't come close to justifying their transfer fees - especially Downing

We're ALL frustrated, but the way some people are reacting is just not sensible.
Don't mistake my 'patience' as being delusional or blind - I'm just as annoyed and frustrated as everyone else.
There are certain players who are under-performing/not delivering. However, I'm not going to go overboard with the criticism like a large portion of the people on here. One thought that gives me some sense of consolation is to consider how we've played together as a team this season - how many times can any of your recall where we've been the second best team in a match? I can honestly only recall one, and that was the Spurs game.

I agree with you Bar! I do think we have a team that can and want to play for each other but we need for them to get that winner mentality to force themselves on the game, and i think if we had a standout leader in the mix we would do better, sometimes that winning at all cost mentality gives extra impetus, maybe cos some are young and new to our team no one has claimed that niche yet, when 1 steps up to play the role of go getter others will be inspired to follow suit.
